Benny Gale on KB's show (Wed at 10am)
« on: March 09, 2010, 01:50:01 PM »
KB said Benny Gale will be on his show tomorrow morning. Presumably from 9am.

KB will most likely ask him about 3-0-75 as well as Cotch being in the leadership group.

Summary

* On Patrick Smith's comments - A non-issue. Each to their own

* None of our people said anything of the sort (Grimes being bitten). Rang around and no one said anything. Not going to comment on the grimes allegation until he makes further enquiries (Cameron to do it). Surprised by it and the words feud, boiling etc in the paper. Not surprised by the dobbing headlines.

* He's not going to speak to Collingwood. Craig Cameron might if we challenge King's case. We don't have to challenge at this stage. It's been deferred. We respect Kingy and his determination and support him but whichever way we go he's not sure.

* 3-0-75 information did get out. That's a fact. Internal presentation in gym to the whole club which was meant to be followed by an external presentation to members. 150 people were in the gym. People may have been enthusiastic and talked to friends and it got out. Nothing sinister in it he believes. Probably optimistic to think we could hold onto it for another week. The info goes on our website today.

* It was 4 months worth of work. Not just rhetoric. Thoroughly detailed plan - on-field, membership and financial performance, set-out steps on how to get there - all about accountability. It's about 3 finals, zero debt and keep in touch more with our members.

* 4 different parts - who we are, what we stand for, where we want to get to. He hates to say it but we have been a collective failure for 30 years. Despite that we have 46k members (37k ticketed) which is incredible. Membership growth per annum across the comp is 8%. we have 100k members who have lapsed and no longer members. When you take all those things 75k is achievable. On-field success is vital. We expect we'll do it.

* It's an ambitious plan. We're an ambitious club. We're after a flag and fact is we haven't won one in 30 years.

* People excited where we are going. Accountable and goal driven. Tremendous coach. Transformation in gameplan and how we do things.

* This year about setting a platform. Transformation - New coach, staff off-field, new facilities. We'll go out to win every game but it's about setting a platform for sustainable competitiveness and sustainable success

* A caller rang in to KB and said "dreams are a blueprint for reality". Not bad.

A good response by Benny to Smith's stupid remark. It doesn't even deserve a reply.

150 people were in the gym.
Good luck finding the leaker out of 150 people  :P. Not sure why that many people needed to be there for the internal presentation.

Why not?  All the staff, off-field and on-field and all the players must be there to feel part of a unit working towards one goal.  If you pick and choose who is there you are already causing factions before the strategy begins.  Part of the strategy is not UNITED for nothing.

Having just the Board and senior club management/representatives (ie. Gale, Cameron, Hardwick, Newman) at the internal presentation would've been enough and it wouldn't have leaked out. If we have people at the club who would sook because they weren't the first to know about this then they aren't the type of people we want/need at the club IMHO.

The club might as well have released the details publicly to members in the first place with that many people told. Wishful thinking thinking they could keep this under wraps telling 150 people.

Richmond CEO Brendon Gale says club is a collective failure (Herald-Sun)

Richmond CEO Brendon Gale says club is a collective failure

    * Alistair Paton
    * From: Herald Sun
    * March 10, 2010 12:33PM

RICHMOND CEO Brendon Gale today said the club had been a "collective failure" for the past 30 years.

This season marks three decades since Richmond's last premiership in 1980.

The Tigers have made the finals just twice since their last Grand Final appearance in 1982, and have endured nine years of pain since tasting September action most recently in 2001.
"I think it’s fair to say, as much as I hate to say it, for the last 30 years we’ve been a collective failure as a club," Gale said on SEN radio.

"I put up my hand, and a lot of other people are willing to put up their hands.

"We’ve had a lot of wonderful contributors, we’ve been successful in a range of measures, but not in the measure that matters most, and that’s premiership success."

The Tigers today unveiled their blueprint for success on and off the field.

Titled "Winning together", the plan aims to deliver the club's 11th premiership and has set ambitious goals of three finals appearances, including one top-four finish, zero debt and 75,000 members by 2014.

Gale said the plan had been four months in preparation and was posted on the club's website today after being revealed to the "entire club" in the Punt Rd gym last week - "board, staff, players, football operations staff, volunteers … we’re talking probably 150 people".

He said the targets were ambitious but not unrealistic.

"An enormous amount of work has gone into it ... it’s not just rhetoric," Gale said.

He said the club had more than 40,000 members when non-ticketed members were taken into account, and 100,000 lapsed members over the past decade.

"When you factor in all those things we don’t think 75,000 members is fanciful."

That all looks fantastic DC (except for the score).  One question - what's a PlayStation?   ???

Disappointing article.

Gale is as professional as they come he deserves mroe respect then the tag line of "Brendon Gale says club is a collective failure"

Perfect example of teh media printing what they want to print. They've missed the story of the professionalism transformation that the club is doing and woudl rather focus on 1 generic statement made in an interview.

What were Patrick Smiths Comments that Gale brushed aside?

Said our club was rabble for appealling and following the path we have taken with regards to the Jake King case at the tribunal.
