So true. Newman is not a captain's sausage sizzler. Played like a loose man in defence most of the night, even though he actually had a forward to mind. Too many times when he got the ball he would hand off to players such as jackson and connors who are lesser kicks than him and not in any better position. It was like he did not want the resposability.
Before he became captain, at least sometimes he would run and kick long to the forward line.
I don't know what leadership qualities he shows around the club, but he shows none on the ground come match day
