Hardwick: Tigers still on track

Filling a dual role as both educator and student, Damien Hardwick is confident that his young Richmond side is keeping up with the steep learning curve despite losing its opening two matches of the season by a combined 128 points.

"The great thing about it from our point of view is that you learn things every game. We've addressed three areas this week and we just want to see the improvement in those three areas against Sydney. It's always a learning opportunity for us and that's the way we look at it each week," he said.

"The losses themselves have been reasonably heavy with 10 goals sort of thing, but the game is that fast at the moment, it's as fast as I've ever seen it and 10 goals can happen in quarter these days. From our point of view, we are reasonably happy with where we are at and the way we are learning."

Realistically...10 to 15 games into Martin Robert Farmer Post Griffiths Vickery Browne/Graham etc this year will not make a huge difference for next year..

IMHO I am not expecting much until the end of next year and early 2012...

Miracles will not happen overnight....

If there is another cull (say half of that which we just had) at the end of this year, we will lose more experience ...the task will become ever greater...

I agree with this. Next year will be just as tough as this year. Hardwick has to get rid of at least another 10 blokes come September/October.

Of the 10

Simmonds retired?
King
McMahon
White
Tuck???
Cousins retired???
Tambling trade
Edwards Polo Connors on the chopping block
Hislop Thompson Polak on the chopping block also
Rance possible trade bait can't kick.
One of Thursty Moore or Luke as trade bait???

Right now we have as genuine keepers

Deledio Riewoldt Cotchin Newman Morton Vickery Post Martin

and remember Dea Astbury Taylor Griffiths Webberley Grimes who we drafted last year have not played senior footy yet and may or may not make it realistically.

I at least applaud Dimma for recognising the magnitude of the job and being prepared to do it properly. It is scary and it is going to hurt. We all know it. Suck it up. >:(

If the club gets rid of this many players at the end of the year then they won't win a game for another 2 years.

I am merely saying that the 10 or so would be from the aforementioned players. You can't get rid of all of them in an environment of compromised drafts although there are definite question marks on most of those players .  :thumbsup
