Yes, as Melbourne are hopless, they played one Ruckman, have no forward line structure and they still kicked 20 goals.  :banghead :banghead :banghead

I said half time Jack.  They had 8 goals to half time and in general play should have been behind.  Did you think we were pathetic to half time?

YES, we kicked 2 goals in the 2nd quarter, and they missed 3 gimmes.
Thought the scoreboard flattered us actually

they were also gifted 3 goals by young Dea who seemed overawed the kid. The kid needs abit of time in the 2nds could be a good player going forward but not right now.

I would love to know how many games of football this kid has played, had NO IDEA.
And didnt want to even try and kick the ball, WTF

As opposed to the gimmes we missed in the first half?  Give it a break Jack, you can't apply your rules selectively like that.  We had more of the play and were just as hard at the contest as them in the first half.  We set up more scoring opportunities and should have been in front at half time.  If you want flattering scoreboards have a look at the quarter time scores - there was no way in God's earth that it reflected the play in the first quarter.

Would agree Ramps but no harm done in giving him a run and seeing what it is all about.  Let him go back and learn in a more competitive environment for his current level, then have another crack.

I agree - the kid should spend this season at Coburg learning the caper. Maybe running him of a wing instead of the backline. Anyway Im sure he'll get better in time.

No one has crucified any kid, the kid wasnt ready to play today. I personally think he will be a good player in time.

NO.
Take him off the ground at point out his mistake and give him some confidence and put him back  on a wing,
not leave him out there and have HIM CRUCIFIED in front on 42,000 people. If thats good coaching, your on drugs.

mistakes like that you don't need to point out, he'll know. leave him on and give him a chance to amend.
Drag him straight away and you will shatter his confidence.

think back to you your own first games of senior footy. then consider how many times you have read about first gamers saying how fast they find the tempo of the game. poo, it will take most players a number of games , at least to adjust. some will, some wont straight away, but give them a break.

I'd rather leave him in for another couple of games, tell him he won't be dropped if he shows the right work rate.
This way you don't run the risk of damaging his confidence and he can relax, not stressing about making a mistake that may cost him his spot. People call for kids to be played then crucify him for making errors, they'll stop making errors by playing more games and adjusting to the pace of the game.

WRONG
The kid wouldnt know, what are coaches for ???
He refused to kick for the entire game ::)
Shatter confidence , NO, didnt have any to start with,, otherwise he would of kicked it , instead of handballing backwards, oh yeah, that real confidence to handball backwards

At least Nason has the balls to take guys on and try and kick the ball forward, he is gaining confidence

Are you seriously telling us that Dea did not know he had stuffed up, even when it directly resulted in a goal?

The worst thing you could do to a kid in those circumstances is drag him. Think about what you said about Nason. "He is gaining confidence" yet look at some of the errors he made in his first few games. Just doesnt get punished like a backman does.

Give him a few games, and if hes not ready back to the twos... no argument, but give him more than just his first game at elite level before you make the call.
