Folau officially a free agent
Updated April 30, 2010 17:15:00

Brisbane Broncos star Israel Folau will not be taking up a contract option with the club for the next two NRL seasons.

Folau has yet to tell the club of his plans but has allowed the contract to lapse, making the 21-year-old Test and Origin representative a free agent and open to all offers from rugby league, rugby union and AFL.

Last night Folau was linked to a $3 million AFL offer with the new Greater Western Sydney franchise and is also in the sights of Super rugby's expansion club Melbourne Rebels.

If Folau is purely after the $$$ and doesn't care which city he lives in then he'll join GWS. They were saying on the radio that the Rebels were offering him around $600-800k per year to join them so the AFL is the highest bidder. If he wants to come back to Melbourne then rugby will get him. They have to be favourites as he's never played Aussie Rules in his life unlike Hunt who played it as a kid. Fatty Vautin even mocked a kick-through that Folau did tonight questioning if he could even kick.
