I think we need to (just quietly) put things into a little perspective.

On the weekend we exposed Port for what they are...a fraundulent football team.In fact I would go as far to say that Port are the new "Richmond".

This friday our team of young boys come up against a team of hardened men.I think the best we can hope for is an honourable loss.I would almost give my right testicle for a win....Just so Richo can stick it to Dennis Cometti after his comments on the weekend.

Anyhow, looking forward to the Tigers putting another nail in Johnny Worsfolds coffin in 2 weeks time.

I feel we have a great chance this week given the confidence of the young group and the perceived vulnerability of the Saints at the moment. Kozi would be dropped in a hearbeat given his pathetic form at the moment but because they are playing us the Saints may keep him in to run him into a bit of form against average opposition This is the sort of attitude that I want to exploit and turn around on teams that under-estimate us.

Similarly the Saints kicked the majority of their score off the boot of their midfielder with Montanya kicking 5 alone. If we can give their midfield something to think about and stop their spread we could not only shut down their forward supply but also their goal kickers. The ruck is where the game will be won or lost this week IMHO and perhaps bringing in an in-form Browne as our second ruck could be a viable option...

As an aside, we have an interesting scenerio at the moment with the amount of players all playing well who specialise in specific positions on the ground. Both Morton and Post had excellent games for Coburg yet it is not easy, for mine at least, to slot them straight back in. Our forwardline at the moment we have - Riewoldt, Astbury, Griffith, Nahas and Nason. I would say Morton's position has been taken by Nason at the moment but given Nason's superior defensive game Morton is struggling to return. Morton is the better goal option IMHO but Hardwick values forwards defensive efforts, such as what Jack has been able to provide while still being extremely offensively dangerous, higher than pure scoring potential.

Post find himself in a similiar situation. He has been played as a power forward and had success on the weekend in that role yet we as a team are attempting to groom Griffiths and Astbury in that role to support Riewoldt as KPF. If Post was to come in he would need to take the place of one of these two young forwards which is a possibility but only if the coaches move Astbury down into the backline.

Another challenge is with Connors. If Lids' move to the backline is to be a long term positional change like he suggested in a recent interview then who will move out of the backline to accomidate Connors imminent return?

We'll get run over in the end.  6 day break after a wet slog while St Kilda pranced around the dome won't help us.

At least I know we'll put up a decent fight.

People keep alluding to this 6 day break we have, but we played on Saturday arvo, and  St. Kilda played on Saturday night. Okay, ours was a heavier track. But we still have a few extra hours on them up our sleeves.

That game would have taken a lot out the boys. A hard physical slog in the bog and throw in 140 tackles. .It is possible they will be flat from the start. Not being able to go and celebrate the win will have helped their recovery though.

It's a pity the saints seemed to find a desire to actually kick goals on the weekend. Up till then I was thinking we had a slight chance of holding them to a 3 all draw.

Wouldn't say so after factoring in the plane trip home as well.

I know what you're saying but our game on a 6 day break is more physically taxing to recover from than theirs.

I just hope that the same ppl getting their hopes up won't be too dissapointed if we get flogged.

Young teams are inconsistent remember that - we'll still cop an occassional mauling this season in amongst some encouraging performances

Young sides are notoriously inconsistent so don't be surprised if we are flat this week. I hope we aren't in saying that especially as it's our only Friday night game for the season in front of a national audience. We are also playing on a flat track which exposes the skill deficiencies we have. The wet weather played to our strengths (contested footy) and Port's weaknesses (frontrunners). Despite the Saints' problems with Nick Riewoldt and their bore everyone to death gameplan they still have the quality mids in Hayes, Goddard, Dal Santo, Montagna, etc... to rip us to shreds on the spread from the contests. It's what they've done to own us for the past 7 years  :scream and it's been the major weakness of ours this year. Also not forgetting that ****** Milne usually has a day out in front of the sticks at our expense  :banghead.

Be very surprised if we win or go even close to the Saints this week. I think the side will be fired up for sure, might even stay with them for a couple of quarters but my opinion is they will finish better than us.

Not sure, but for a start there will be 2 Saints playing that made a legal settlement over rape allegations and another 24 year old one who doesn't mind having a crack at 16 year old school girls.  There's some ammo that can last all game no matter where the ball is given one is in defense, one in the midfield and one plays forward.  :shh  ;D  :rollin

Just quietly, The Tiges kept Port to there lowest ever score. Lower than any other team has including Geelong etc..twice.That means Richmond is the best team ever..IMO lol.
