July 6, 2010 - 3:03PMToxicology tests for Ben Cousins have reportedly given the AFL star the all-clear for alcohol.
Radio 3AW reported this afternoon results of Cousins’ toxicology tests revealed the Tigers star had no alcohol in his blood system when he was rushed to hospital yesterday.
Cousins was discharged from hospital today after treatment for a suspected adverse reaction to a prescribed sleeping pill.
3AW’s Sports Today host Gerard Healy said this afternoon Cousins had been ‘‘off the grog for a month’’.
An Epworth Hospital spokeswoman confirmed at midday the Richmond player had left the hospital and was not expected to speak to media, as had been rumoured.
Richmond officials are expected to release a statement this afternoon.
Earlier, the hospital spokeswoman said the Richmond player was free to leave and he had told staff he wanted to go home.
Cousins was no longer being sedated, his condition was stable and he had spent a comfortable night in hospital, the spokeswoman said.
