Summary

* This week is exciting. A challegne but one they are looking forward to. Exciting seeing our young guys like Martin go up against guys like Swan.

* Morton into the midfield this week. He was sent back to Coburg to learn to play midfield. He's an elite kick and a terrific athlete. Mitch had to go back to go forward. We needed him to develop into a midfielder and get 25 touches for him and us to go forward.

* Great thing is the boys were disappointed with our endeavour last week. Our leadership group took responsibility. We don't want to see our lack of effort of last week again. We want our boys to come out firing albeit against the top side this week.

* The easiest thing is to make excues. We expect the same standards every week. Players took responsiblity; coaches took responsiblity.

* Tambling - have decided to play him down back. He'll play down back at Coburg this week. We probably tried a few things with Richie and played him upfield at senior level where he played at half-back last year. Partly Richie's responsibility and partly the coaches.

* You need to be honest with each other. The players love the feedback. Richie will go back this week and play well at Coburg.

* Majority of players can cop it (criticism). In our day we copped it all the time. You need to challenge them more now. You keep away from blasting them too much as they're big boys now days (laughs)

* We'll play the Pies player by player on their merit. Collingwood rotates heavily so hard to chase tail/tag. We'll borrow from what Hawthorn does. Mick's an outstanding coach so if you try to chase tail you're get burnt.

* Martin will learn from Swan, Pendlebury, Didak ... whoever is on in there. He'll play on whoever he matches up well on.

* Post - another guy who has become a better player at Coburg. Daly and Leppa having been working on a couple of principles with Postie. A late maturer so he'll become a good player it's just going to take time. 3rd tall this week.

* Cotch - he'll learn from it. Robbo said Cotch was very stiff. Hardwick said as long as there is consistency that's all we can ask for. Cotch will learn to put an arm up next time. We'll use the opportunity for him to learn to play different positions at training over the next 4 weeks.

* We don't change to many things from week to week which is great but we think a couple of things we do will challenge Collingwood but that's easier said than done. Dimma believes the Pies will win the flag. Robbo mentioned how Melbourne pushed the Pies twice with effort. Dimma said the Dees have matched up well on the Pies for the last couple of years.

Is he talking about the decision to play Tambling up forward there? I haven't heard the audio but it's an interesting admission on Hardwick's part if he's saying what I think he's saying. Blinga played his best footy last year and like most I've wondered why he's gone missing. Hopefully he gets his game back on track.
