Tambling/Pick 29/Pick 60 for Sherman/Houli/Pick 35ish.

The Sherman deal appears merely speculative with him being contracted for another 2 years. The cost of the trade and covering his contract would surely persuade our club from pursuing it.

Conversely, the Houli trade seems a long way down the track and is closer to eventuating that not.

This time of the year always gets me worried (probably rightly so given our history) that we will trade away picks and fall into the same trap we have for years - over-estimating our list and hurting our redevelopment.

Richmond, in the absence of Ben Cousins, is hoping to bolster its midfield with several experienced additions by trading in Sherman and out-of-contract Bomber Bachar Houli.
Hardly makes you feel excited :-\

Anyway this would mean we give up pick 29 for Sherman leaving us with just one pick inside the top 45 of the draft. An extra (priority) pick would've come in handy wouldn't it :whistle.

You'd better hope by the time trade week comes along we are also trading players away to gain decent picks or serious questions will need to be asked of those in charge of our list management and total recruiting strategy.

Id say there's a pretty good chance we would get a 2nd round pick in exchange for one of rance, thursty, mcguane or moore so it may not be so bad.

Have to agree with X about drafting kids not being the only way to build a list.
In the past we have made some shocking decisions in terms of picking up hacks and giving away picks, but considering how poorly we have drafted in the past we probably didnt loose  much at the end of the day.

Saying we must only draft kids because of this history is throwing the baby out with the bath water. It doesnt matter how the player comes to the club, what is important is that it's the right player for the right price
Hardwick has lead the club well so far and im going to trust him on his decsions cause he wants whats best for richmond as much as we do  :thumbsup

I agree with all , so far we have recuited well under  Jakson / Cameron / Hardwick but I would be unhappy if we were to trade away our top 4 picks.

I suspect the Sherman for Blinger would have merit. Along with  one of our medium tall backmen it might be in everyones best interest to organise a trade.

I wouldnt be unhappy to trade Foley to WC for their pick 4 and Rance + swap for Mundy. Could Hawthorn still be chasing Rance

There is no way in the world that Nathan Foley is worth pick 4 with his on going medical problems, there's just to much risk at the asking price, maybe the end of next year after he has shown a full recovery could we expect that sort of deal.

Sherman is a reallly good player
Can tell you he is highly related by most clubs
That would mean the  end for alot of the ""midgets "" we currently have.
Would be very excited to get Justin at Punt Rd ;)

he's poo, crap foot skills, over inflated contract

the end

For me Sherman is an inconsistent injury prone player who runs hot and cold.
Pass.

Would not waste a draft pick on him.

Jack if he is so highly rated then why are the journos not writing anything about it.

Yet they seem to write garbage articles about us and linking us to everyone who has worn an AFL jumper and
disgruntled with their club or out of contract. Seems if Dimma aint giving them what they want to hear they will write about it anyway and then change their tune when we follow a different scenario.

Trading is 3 weeks away.......  ;D

who says I like the 6 duds you may be talking about you self promoting bigshot? ::) There are still another 12-13 players who i want out of punt road.
Replacing duds with slight upgrades(but still duds) and ones on 450k per season no less, is not my idea of good list management. Lol yeah you're a real expert Jack  :lol

I agree with Jack on this one. I think Sherman would be a good pickup. Has plenty of pace, is built like his namesake and is a pretty reliable shot at goal.

Western Bulldogs yesterday joined Richmond and Sydney in the race to lure contracted Brisbane midfielder/forward Justin Sherman.

Sherman's new manager, Melbourne-based Liam Pickering, confirmed the Dogs had a strong interest in the 23-year-old, who is being forced out of the Lions due to salary-cap pressure.

As reported exclusively in yesterday's The Australian, Richmond has offered him the security of a firm three-year deal which is not reliant on Brisbane subsidising any future remuneration.

In return, the Lions are understood to be agreeable to accepting a second-round national draft selection in return for Sherman.
