Day 2 - Volcanoes, lakes and Haka

Brett Deledio practices his Haka routine.

There was no time for a sleep-in for the Richmond travelling crew in New Zealand on the second day of its five-day journey.

The groups were up at the crack of dawn and given suitcases, with the contents revealing instructions on their first destination.

While they made their way to the North Island city of Rotarua, the groups also had a chance to collect more points with a series of mental challenges, including Sudoku and a Rubik’s cube.

Each group was also given the three-day objective of creating a travel video of New Zealand, featuring the places they visited throughout their stay, which will be presented to a panel of judges on the final night of the trip.

At Rotarua, the teams were taught to perform the Haka, the traditional form of dance of the Maori people.

The origins of the dance, and its traditional meanings, were explained by the staff at Haka World, before the groups performed for more points.

With the Haka mastered, the teams headed to Lake Taupo, the city with the largest lake in New Zealand.

Armed with a handful of images, the groups were asked to find a number of locations throughout the city, and replicate the photographs.

By 3pm, the entire travelling party was required at Mt Ruapehu, an active volcano at the southern end of the Taupo Volcanic Zone and the biggest mountain on the North Island.

The players completed a gruelling 10km bike ride up the side of the mountain, before walking to the summit.

After some official presentations, it was time for an early night, and the promise of more non-stop action on day three.

You have to hover over the photo, up near the top right and a 'next' button appears, then you can scroll through them.
And you may not think I care for you
When you know down inside that I really do

Day 3 – Canoes and the farmyard

Chris Newman carries logs at Taumarunui.

Day three was another near-perfect day on the North Island of New Zealand, and the Richmond travelling party was treated to a full day of outdoor activities.

At day break, the teams travelled to Taumarunui, a picturesque town set on the Whanganui River.

Their task for the morning was a four-hour canoe ride, with the first team arriving at the destination given maximum points.

Extra points were gifted to those groups who kept a rill of toilet paper as dry as possible throughout the journey.

A brief training session before the challenge wasn’t enough to prevent several two-man crews from capsizing during the ride, but all groups made it to the finish line in one piece.

The white team completed the course in 3hrs and 45mins, with the final group 30 minutes behind.

After a quick lunch by the river, the teams were back vying for more points, this time in the form of rotating activities in a large farm near Taumarunui.

The challenges included river crossing, wood chopping, log throwing and hill sprinting.

After a 90-minute rotation, the players were given a breather with a barbeque dinner at Whakapapa Lodge, and another early night before day four.

Who are these boys that wear bras?

You might want to look into a pair of rose colored glassed TTID.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Yahweh? or the great Clawski?
