theres a real chance we will lose two of our more highly rated young mids.

And there's a real chance we won't

So until we do and we get through FA and trade I think it's worth taking a depth breath and waiting to see what happens

Beside I think it's fair to say that some of us view our list depth as being in slightly better shape than you do claw  :thumbsup

cmon you lot.
theres a real chance we will lose two of our more highly rated young mids.  along with the retirement of possibly our best inside mid surely its pertinent to ask where it leaves us as far as depth and quality in the midfield goes.
You wish Mr Negative!!! Am 95% sure we will retain both of these young mids, especially Reecey Conca. All part of the posturing when contracts are due for renegotiation. Both will be there next year IMO

What I notice with your post Claw is the enourmous age gap we have there from 20 to 26

With 2 mid fielders in it Helbig and Cotchin (minus Martin and Conca).  That in itself must be a worry for our list management and as I've said before you can never have enough mid fielders.  Our list this year though it has depth and is better than before its not great and we have an obvious lack of depth in the Ruck.

Now Claw points out we have an age gap in our midfield.

Let's delist everyone over 190cm tall and draft more mids!

West Coast Eagles ramp up chase for Richmond midfielder Reece Conca
by: Kim Hagdorn
From: PerthNow

WEST Coast Eagles management has intensified attempts to lure Richmond midfield young gun Reece Conca.

Conca, 21, is in the market for lucrative four-year deal in the region of $300,000 a season if he chooses to continue his blossoming AFL career back in his home state after 52 games with Richmond since he was a top-10 draft pick at the end of 2010.

The nippy and skilful ball-handler is believed to have attracted interest from up to a dozen other AFL clubs as doubts rise that Conca will stay a Tiger.

And West Coast has also jumped into the race to sign disgruntled Brisbane utility Elliott Yeo.

Yeo, 19, was scheduled to meet with Eagles management in Perth today as he considers his future after a roller-coaster 2013 at the Lions that included the sacking of senior coach and Lions legend Michael Voss late into August.

Yeo and Conca are Western Australian football products and fit the Eagles recruiting model targeting fast and gifted midfielders in ambitious plans to rebound as a potential finals force as early as next season after West Coast grossly under-achieved this season with just nine wins and finishing 13th on the AFL premiership ladder.

Fremantle officials are also expected to approach Conca and Yeo after this month’s premiership campaign.

Conca has been linked with a possible four-year deal at Fremantle.

Plans for his playing future are expected to become clearer when the Dockers conclude their history-breaking finals campaign over the next fortnight.

Conca is a frontline Eagles recruiting target despite mounting likelihood that star on-baller Dustin Martin will leave the Tigers.

West Coast is understood to have ruled out any prospect of joining the race to secure Martin.

The highly talented but often troublesome Martin and his manager Ralph Carr are insisting on at least $600,000 a season over four years and have rejected as much as $520,000 from Tigers management.

With serious doubts Martin will stay at Richmond, the classy Conca has become a hot property signing.

West Coast is also understood to have lost interest in luring Carlton speedster and WA product Chris Yarran in their recruiting drive for top midfielders and dashing line-breakers.

Conca and his manager Colin Young are believed to already have held preliminary discussions with Eagles football operations boss Craig Vozzo.

A trade deal for Conca’s switch to West Coast will prove a tough negotiation with the Tigers likely to insist on the Eagles first round draft pick at number six and potentially even another player in the swap.

Conca was taken at No.6 three years back and is considered a star on-baller in the making at Richmond as the Tigers continue to build toward sustained finals after an inglorious exit from the opening week of the premiership play-off series this month in a shocking second half fadeout to staunch rival Carlton.

Conca had minor surgery late last week to a torn hamstring he suffered in the opening five minutes of his finals appearance against the Blues.

He is expected to be fully recovered in time to start a new pre-season in mid-November.

West Coast and Freo trying to outbid each other could be handy. Sounds like we could be potentially very busy this trade period. Getting another first rounder for Conca or Martin on top of the one we have and we could nearly lock in being able to get Adams and someone like Longer.

This is the same Kimmy who earlier this year said Rance's contract negotiations were in limbo without realising Rance had already re-signed :stupid.

Surely if Martin is going then there would be more money to pay Conca without breaching the salary cap?
Midfield is crucial, and if RFC management is willing to let resources go, then I question their thought processes.
Surely if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Every day this drags out I am less confident he will stay, and I hate that.
As someone said earlier, the concacuddle should stay at RFC.
He seems a genuine guy but all this fighting for more money makes me doubt that.
I am also worried about the content of the apparent meeting with Hardwick held last week.
There were all these articles about the Tiges "confident of re-signing both Martin and Conca" but it's looking like neither will happen now.
Not sure I believe anything any more.  :-\

Not much, sounded disappointed by the tone of his voice. Hopes that he will stay.

just coming from a worst case scenario point of view wp . every day the  martin and conca conflict  drags on the  more and more likely it seems that is what will happen. surely we have to look at it from the lowest point  as suppporters and god forbid as a club

if the club  are not looking at ways to make a real negative into a win they are not arent doing their  job.

and yes i reralise most on here rate the players and list greater than i do hence most of the run ins i have. have to say to date my assesments have never been far off the mark.

gotta ask ya wp without tuck martin and conca do we have enough quality midfs and decent depth in that area. simple answer is a resounding no we were light on this yr and have been blessed with no injuries.it was an area that had to be built on even if we keep those mentioned.
our club recognised this they were after adams even before the contract problems.

Where did you come up with the idea we are anywhere near breaching the salary cap?  :-\

Both players have been offered contracts. they wouldn't have beenoffered contracts if they couldn't afford them within the salary cap

there is a huge difference with offers being about what a player is worth and about to go over the salary cap.

Club have made it clear they have strict payment policy which seems to include the ideal of not paying "overs". That doesn't mean in anyway, shape or form that they are about to go over the salary cap
