both conca and batchelor showed terrific signs tonight...conca is growing in confidence, sheesh once he adds some muscle to that frame look out, and batch is a real carbon copy of joel bowden, he should go for his marks more though he has good hands, plenty of time with the pill and a deadly kick

doesnt even need it tbh, hes got a solid core, hits the man hard at the contest.

What did you think of him tonight Dan?  Very smart cookie the way he holds the ball and releases at the right time taking the hit.

I thought Conca showed plenty tonight when he was played in the mid-field

Reece Conca= Anthony Banik
Will be a perminate half forward or half back
Will be serviceable at best.
Personally think we got that pick wrong. Time will tell and like Daniel, i would be really happy to be wrong.

As long as he plays in our best 22 thats all that matters.

You can't expect to pick the best kid in the draft every year.

The bloke picked up 20 possessions against Collingwood. Poor call for mine bt.

bad call big tone.

Reece Conca in his first 4 games has had 57 disposals.
Garry Abblet jr had only 40 disposals after 4 games.
Luke Hodge had only 31 disposals after 4 games.
Dane Swan..........43 touches after 4 games.Pendlebury 47.

And then theres the mighty Chris Judd with 63.

The comparison doesnt make sense to me. Banik was a big kid who was slow. Conca doesnt look slow. Banik was never able to go into the midfield which is where Conca will end up. Its a wrong comparison IMHO.

For a kid who has played 4 games, out of his normal position ( read out of his comfort zone) he has shown glimpses that he he is a natural footballer. A deft little side step last night and ability to run the angles and create space for himself show to me that if he makes the grade he will be a long term, very good footballer.

I scratch my head wondering what some people look for in kids.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Conca played well last night. Impressed by what I saw. I always liked Banik but remember he got sick was out of the game for an extended period and he never recovered afterwards

I think Batch and Astbury are our future in the back half. Got a lot of time for them both

Conca was good last night, especially playing against the Pies, but i still have my doubts.

30 years in the wilderness you haver doubts about everything the club does.

Like i said he did well but i dont know if he will be a permanent fixture in the midfielder. He seems too short. Whats his height?

185cm, same as Cotchin (and Helbig who you seem to like) and 3cm taller than Gary Ablett Junior

a comparrison straight from the clacker, parallels are zip, banik arrived as a mature bodied kid who dominated junior ranks, conc shows he has midfield smarts, the comment earlier that he has a knack of drawing an opponent, releasing the pill and taking a hit is a terrific early sign ...4 games and he averages ~15 possies...errr not a bad start
