I think Houli was 85kg last year. So he's lost 3kg. Morton is listed as 81kg. Was 86kg not long ago

I don't have an issue with that. Thursfield is best suited to playing as a third tall.
He is NOT a fullback and has been punching out of his weight division.
If the loss of weight helps with an increase in speed and endurance and enables him to play on players such as LeCras it may well save his career which is on tenterhooks. Be interesting to see how Wil goes this year. Make or break.

He's not going to get a game as third tall. McGuane and Astbury will probably start the season FB and CHB with Kel Moore as 3rd tall. Then you have the likes of Grimes and Gourdis pushing for selection. Thursty has played most of his career on talls. He might do alright playing on some smaller blokes but I don't think he's the answer when it comes to shutting down the small forwards who have ripped us to bits over the years.

Hope he can get back into the side at some stage though.

Good point magic. Overall, we are finally starting to look more afl sized as a list. Young talls look especially encouraging.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Agree with that. Astbury is going to be a gun, IMO.

We look to have alot more promising tall forward options with afl experience than Melbourne do. Griffiths, Post, Reiwoldt, Vickery are all 195cm+ and Taylor is 192cm. As for Melbourne they have Watts at 195cm+ and Bate, Dunn at 192cm. That's where I feel we'll overtake them in a year or 2. They have a short forward line
