Good chance for Casserly (why the feck can't anyone spell his name properly?) to show something. Will, B Miller and Goo will be keen to show something as well.

wayne was close to the money  :thumbsup

Finding a starting midfield is difficult without our usual name players  :P. Out of Kingy (tagger), Morton or throwing Conca in there in his first game at senior level.

Cant spell his name 'cause he's a nobody :lol
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

The All-Stars lack height/KPPs with Ryder and Goodes probably having to ruck but they have stacks of runners and experienced names. Hopefully the advantage of training and playing together will keep us competitive as our midfield stocks are thin as.

Sam Sheldon?  WTF?  I'm related to him and I'm unaware of any links that would make him eligible for this team.  Unless his mother has some - I don't know her at all.

If this result isnt to much of a blow out youd think there might be some "bigger" name richmond players a little nervous, i like the look of this seeing the first year guys etc out for a run without it actually counting for anything. It will still give them an insight into how fast the game is.

Wow.  Has to be via his mother then (per Google - Wendy - family is from up around Echuca way and so is the Wemba-Wemba land).  Ken's Mum and Dad have no links I'm sure.

Big test for young Tigers squad (Herald-Sun)

Big test for young Tigers squad
AAP / Herald-Sun
February 02, 2011

RICHMOND has named an extremely inexperienced squad to take on the Indigenous All-Stars in Alice Springs on Friday night.
Nine of them have never played an AFL game.

Captain Chris Newman is among a long list of the Tigers' best players who are skipping the pre-season encounter, with Jack Riewoldt, Brett Deledio and Trent Cotchin also being held back.

Midfielder Nathan Foley will also by-pass the match as he works his way back from a variety of leg injuries over the past two seasons.

Of the top 10 in Richmond's best and fairest voting last season, only Shane Tuck and Jake King are in the 28-man squad, which includes new draftees Reece Conca, Jake Batchelor, Dean Macdonald and Tom Derickx.

Three untried rookies -- Pat Contin, Ben Jakobi and Nick Westhoff -- are also included, as are Travis Casserley and Mitch Keddell, who are fighting for a rookie-list spot.

Essendon discard Bachar Houli and former Blue Shaun Grigg have not been named, but ex-Melbourne mature-age rookie Brad Miller is in the squad.

"It is a very young team but it is a great opportunity for us to see what progress these guys have made during the pre-season," Richmond coach Damien Hardwick said.

"It is really important a number of these players take significant steps forward this season to support our core group of senior players.

"It will be exciting to see how they handle their first game.

"The club is really pleased to be playing in this game and for these young players to experience this occasion and play in very different conditions."

Although I am not unhappy at all our better players having a rest, you'd feel pretty ripped off if you were a Tiger supporter going to the game.
And you may not think I care for you

Not as ripped off as a tiger supporter who thought they were going to the game, only to have it moved 1500km away due to NT incompetence :'(

Just for those wondering what NT stands for;

Not Today.
Not Tomorrow.
Next Tuesday?

Good chance for Casserly (why the feck can't anyone spell his name properly?)
I always remembered his name being spelt with an LEY at the end, perhaps it was that way on the Richmond site when he was with us.
All the newspaper articles seem to spell it that way, his agency page is listed with that spelling as it is on many of the draft websites at the time he was picked up
