Who will captain? / Jake King for a day

Who will be captain for us on Friday night with our leadership group missing? Tucky is the oldest and most experienced so I'd guess it could be him.

I think Morton deserves it.  Has shown great leadership in the past 12 months and, from all reports, on and off the track this pre season.

Good call
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

I reckon Mitch deserves it - shown great leadership in the last 6-8 months in particular

Would not be surprised at all if he is promoted to the leadership group in 2011

Jake King will captain Richmond in Friday’s match against the Indigenous All Stars in Alice Springs.

The decision was made by the Club’s leadership group, and announced to the players just before today’s training session at Punt Road.

King, 26, made his AFL debut with the Tigers in 2007 and has played 56 games.

He enjoyed his best season of league football in 2010, finishing ninth in the Club’s Best and Fairest award, and gaining prominence in a defensive-forward role.

Regular Richmond skipper Chris Newman will miss Friday’s clash, along with a host of more experienced players, including Brett Deledio, Jack Riewoldt, Trent Cotchin, Shane Edwards, Luke McGuane, Daniel Jackson, Nathan Foley and Kelvin Moore, meaning the Tigers will take on the All Stars with an extremely young, but enthusiastic squad.

Richmond will wear black armbands in Friday’s match as a mark of respect for dual Jack Dyer Medallist and 1982 Norm Smith Medallist, Maurice Rioli, who died on Christmas Day.

Well knock me down with a feather. The turnover King has come a long way in a short space of time.
