Give the kids a shot.

Astbury to Roughead. Grimes to Franklin.

If it falls over then what have we lost? They have gained valuable experience.

Astbury at present is a third tall.
He isn't a great defender of the footy but he rebounds ok. To even think he should get a crack at Buddy is laughable!!! The perfect match up is Dave Gourdis. He is super quick, tall, agile, a good spoiler and most importantly has an opportunity to earn the right to be part of this side that is on the way up. I don't care how he has been going at Coburg, he should be brought into the side and told, you have first crack at Buddy, do well and you'll go a long way in being a part of this side this year.
Could not write a better script for a kid that has been on our list for a while that just needs "that game" to feel like he belongs at the level. I think he does....

I like the logic but just too nervous that Gourdis isn't good enough in the footy nous department.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Don't need a rebounding player on Buddy. We need some who can take him out of the game. Thursfield is my first choice but if that fails believe there is merit in bringing in Gourdis to the side as a back up and to play on Hale if he goes up forward. Astbury is having a quiet start to year. Dont't want his confidence to be shattered if Buddy has a blinder. Astbury would be better on roughhead. He would be able to expose Roughhead

It sure will!! He won't be worth trading at the end of the year if he doesn't perform. I really thought Will was going to come along last year and even more so this year, lets hope he can really lift and cement a spot in our backline.

Grimes is in!
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

surely we could've brought in Thursfield also. Edwards has done nothing the last month.

Grimes and Astburt vrs Roughead and Franklin

we are screwed.

It's a long term decision, but i think you are right in terms of this week
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Agree with Daniel. Franklin and Roughhead are going to have a field day if Hawthorn mids fire. Who the hell is going to go on Hale. Would rather put Newman on Franklin than Astbury. Newman is quick, brave and has good skills. Would relieve pressure on other defenders.
