PORT Adelaide defender Jackson Trengove says he'll wait until later this season to negotiate a new contract after meeting with his management in Melbourne during the club's bye weekend a fortnight ago.

Trengove is out of contract at the end of the year and is believed to have attracted the interest of a number of Victorian clubs including Richmond, which is in dire need of a key-position defender

Jon Ralphy from the HeraldSun on twitter:
"If Jackson Trengove wants out of Port Adel the queue to get him in Vic would stretch to 10 clubs. Richmond in mix, but what do you give up? "

Different Trengove gerks.

But on another note, since this rumor rose it's head I have been one to back the club getting him and I will until after he lands at Punt Road. He would have to be our priority during trade week, the club would fail themselves and us supporters should they not have a decent crack at getting this guy to the club.

Offer up Edwards, White and/or a second/third round draft pick for him.

Yeah I looked at it both ways, he could have also meant that we would be lucky enough to end up with the top 3 picks out of that draft, not knowing which Trengove they were talking about. But I realise it was tongue in cheek.. :thumbsup

Not sure if he should be our number one trade target this year with Mitch Clark a distinct possibility.... :-\

How old is Mitch Clark compared to Trengove Stripes, if he is in the same age bracket then I would agree with you. Otherwise Trengove IMO, would have to be no 1 on our radar.

Didn't we have the chance a couple of years ago to look at him and we didn't bother??

We'd be better off with what we have. Don't get seduced getting sub par players from strong on field clubs. Blake from Geelong is another one that comes to mind. When Jolly comes back from injury Cam Wood won't be getting a game.

Not getting seduced just throwing it out there. Wood is way better than Flake. He's played well while Jolly's been out and the fact he won't get a game when Jolly comes back is exactly why I mentioned him. He's a good age and he's served his apprenticeship at two clubs. He won't want to be playing magoos anymore I reckon.
I wouldn't give sh*t away to get him tho. PSD
