David King now predicting Richmond to finish top 6
« on: May 26, 2011, 03:35:17 AM »
I saw this posted on BF.

David King last night on AFL360 on Foxtel said about us - "They'll be top 6...guaranteed"  :o

Someone has changed his tune  :whistle

I didn't see the show but apparently Robbo, Wheatley and McClure agreed as well  :o.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Yes he's a bitter, bitter man. Speaks volumes that he hasn't been able to pick up any coaching position of note still he helped drive our squad into the dirt...

imo top 6 is not likely in almost all circumstances. top 8 a maybe. we have won 4.2 games and will need at least another 7 to 8  wins to make the 8.

wins could come against.
pa this week, bl rnd13. melb rnd 14. gc rnd 17. syd rnd 21. melb rnd 22. adelaide rnd 23. nm rnd 24. thats 8 wins leaving us on 12 .2 wins  i can easily see us dropping 3 or 4 of these games especially if we get hit by injury, and lets face it once again we have had a bloody good run with injury. we have also had some luck in coming across sides that have been depleted thru injury. in these wins is ad at aami. melb twice. syd who may be in the hunt for a top 8 spot. bl with jon brown back and at the gabba we struggled to get over them in melbourne. and nm who should have a better team available as players come back.

losses could come against.
syd rnd rnd 12 scg. carl rnd 15, ess rnd 16, geel rnd 18, wce rnd 20 at subi.  i say ess mainly because of the injury factor again hocking watson hurley pears will make a huge difference to them.

yep we could scrape into the 8 if all things go well but its just as likely we could finish bottm 4 or 5.

Sorry mate. Here's the Foxsports article about what David King said...

Former Richmond assistant coach David King declares the Tigers a certainty for AFL top eight in 2011

    By John Clark
    FOX SPORTS
    May 26, 2011 11:26AM

Former Richmond assistant coach David King has declared the Tigers a certainty to make the top eight and credited a pair of dashing defenders for the Punt Road revival.

King was with the Tigers for five years as a right-hand man to former coach Terry Wallace.

He said the club's development in 2011 was "sustainable" and would lead the Tigers back to September action for the first time in a decade.

The two-time North Melbourne premiership dasher said he was impressed with a number of players but saved his highest praise for captain Chris Newman and best and fairest Brett Deledio.

"They have got the best half-back combination in the game. The counter-punchers in Newman and Deledio off half-back," King told AFL 360.

"They are goalkickers, they are inside 50 players who love the game in their area.

"No other side has that potential off a half-back flank when you look at the duo Richmond have.

"They (Richmond's coaching staff) withstood all sorts of pressure with people saying 'get Deledio back in the midfield, he's got to make it as a midfielder'.

"Well, he doesn't have to make it as a midfielder. They're well catered for with the batch of young midfielders coming through.

"It's very hard to stop those two off half back hurting you."

King said Richmond's often maligned style of play now had substance.

He expects it to continue to return results in 2011 and beyond.

"I think their attitude for the contest is one thing that they pride themselves on now and it's terrific," King said.

"They're playing finals football. When you watch them play, that is sustainable because they're not limping over the line, they're not playing safe footy, they are playing brave, contested footy.

"They'll make the finals. They'll be top six, guaranteed."
