theres nothing superior about my judgement im just commenting on what ive seen to date. i also believe for a small but at 22 while there is no doubt some improvment left in him i dont think there will be a lot.
It's all good. All we both want are good footballers for the RFC.
Personally I think Edwards has some elite qualities right now.
Sure he's not a complete player yet but there is a lot to work with and develop still.
Weaknesses?! Yes.
The knocks on his kicking early this year were justified.
Appalling errors!
but as a keen observer you must admit it improved in his more recent outings as it did last year.
Most of the knocks on his disposal by his most outspoken critics was largely formed early.
Fair enough, he was off to a shaky start and as is always the case in life it's a lot harder to shake those initial perceptions people form up front than it is later.
However many of his critics needed to look deeper than the odd howler by foot that attracted most of the attention.
Shane's hands are exceptional IMO. As his his decision making.
He is a footballer, absolutely and a very talented one.
Many will scream his decision making has been shocking but personally I think sometimes early he just thought too much. Still does now at times.
Better than not thinking enough though (ala Tambling
) and with experience I believe that will improve. His ability to bring others into the play is a very valuable commodity that few have.
Importantly also he also has a great tank.
He's not overly quick but will run all day. With the reduced interchange I think that this will be a valuable asset to have.
He applies constant pressure to his opponents and has a high work ethic. No wonder he's a coaches favourite.
Anyways enough of blowing his trumpet. Only time will tell how he ends up.
Not there yet but hopefully he becomes great player for the Tigers. I think he can be.
