If all the players in for surgery had gone when injured we couldn't have put 22 players out in the ;ast few rounds.  We do actually have an obligation to field a team.

There were also situations where we rested people. Dylan Grimes was basically in full training last few weeks of the season and also Newy was put in cotton wool as well. It's not all craziness down here.

Thats true and that's good

But to find out that one of your top players (Jack) requires 4 operations now after being told mid season he wasn't playing injured when blind freddy could see he was you have to ask why did they keep playing him? What was the point?

Why didn't they put Jack in cotton wool? It's 4 operations for crying out loud

Ditto McGuane; to hear Luke explain at a pre-match function about his OP the effect it has had on his ability to play, the subsequent surgery to try and fix it and then that he had been carrying it since last season you are again left wondering what was the point?

Conca played in Perth and he could barely run? Why?

I just don't get or agree with it

And sorry no you wont change my thinking on this

Was it ever said that he wasn't playing injured?
I thought the stock standard response to such enquiries was there are not too many players carrying some sort of injury at this time year?

For memory al, I think in a press conference Dimma was asked if Jack was injured and he said "no he is fine". think it might have been after the Carlton debacle

Yep it was portrayed as just a typical in-season niggle that every AFL footballer has and has to play through even though we all saw he was clearly playing injured. Jack was suffering to the point in the Gold Coast game he was a liability as his direct opponent just continually ran off him. Just dumb of the Club to not put Jack in cotton wool, get the four operations done while in-season and make sure he was 100% right to go for the start of the upcoming preseason. You don't risk your A-graders when there's nothing left in the season to play for.

Knee worry behind Newman

Richmond captain Chris Newman will hit the upcoming pre-season campaign at full pace after recovering fully from a knee injury.

It is a similar situation for another of Richmond’s long-term injury casualties this season, Dylan Grimes.

David Astbury and Tom Derickx are also well on the road to recovery, undertaking extra running sessions with a view to being ready for the start of the pre season.

Richmond spearhead Jack Riewoldt, who has undergone several minor surgeries in the off season, is also expected to be on the training track in early November.
