Collingwood a tough draw?

They wouldn't know a tough draw if they fell over it............

The Kangaroos appear to be one of the big winners after the AFL’s fixture release as they are one of only two clubs – along with Adelaide – to play both the Giants and the Suns twice next season.

This   :banghead

and

In contrast, Richmond and the Bulldogs clash with GWS and Gold Coast only one time.

This   :banghead

Why not start them on 8 points ahead of us at the start of the year. I am sorry but I cant understand why ALL teams didnt get three games against these two Clubs.

We make it up as well as the % when we belt the living daylights out of them at the G.  ;D

I read several times that no team would play GWS and GC twice in a season??!!  :huh

fingers crossed Gold Coast beat Kangaroo's and Crows at least once.

No doubt Kangaroo's will still find something about the fixture to complain about.

You're right wayne that is what I heard as well.  The teams we play twice are Carlton, Demons, Freo, Bombers & Port.

Aside from playing GC & GWS twice, the crows will also play Cats, Port & Freo

Aside from playing GC & GWS twice, Nort will play Eagles, Bombers and Dogs

So looking at that it appears that IMO the Arden St Anti-christs have the best deal of the lot.   :banghead

It's the Bombers that have the dream run >:( >:( They could easily be 10-1 at the bye if they start this season like they did last.......

I am very pleased with the draw for many reasons -

1. Strength of the opposition
From my initial observations and based on our 2011 form, there appears to be at least 11 games that are certainly winnable. If we set up from last years form and the opposition doesn't, we should will push into the finals.  :thumbsup

2. Amount of travel
Six interstate trips is extremely reasonable especially considering one of them is of our own making. None of the trips fill me with dread either.

3. Percentage of day home games
This is the biggest factor for me. I have a young son who loves to come the footy with me and my group. Last year, all the night games made it very hard for him to come. This year I count at least 7 home games he will be able to attend.  :clapping

All in all, this draw is as good as I could ever home for....well maybe a second game against GWS and Gold Coast would have been nice

Yep the AFL said a couple of weeks back no team would play both GWS and GC twice and then they basically gift North 16 points and massive %  ::).  North also only play Geelong, Pies, Hawks and Blues only once. If charity is the only way North can make the finals then they won't last long in them as you can't avoid the top sides in the finals.

ps. We burst the Bomber bubble this year Tas so hopefully we do it again in round 8  :thumbsup.

Tigers warm to fixture
richmondfc.com.au
By Tony Greenberg
Fri 28 Oct, 2011

“Overall, we’re content with the way the fixture has panned out for us, from both a football and commercial viewpoint,” said Richmond’s CEO Brendon Gale.

“Having nine home games at our home ground, the MCG, and 13 in total there, is a terrific result that I’m sure our supporters will appreciate.

“We are pleased to be hosting Carlton in our traditional season-opener, and with other home blockbuster matches against Essendon and Hawthorn.

“The increase in Saturday afternoon games is another positive, as is the fact our fans will see the Tigers more frequently on free-to-air TV, compared to 2011.

“We are also excited about continuing to assist with the growth of the game by playing a home match in Cairns for the second year-in-a-row.

“And, I know our players and coaches are really looking forward to taking on the challenges presented in the fixture.”
