Brownlow form guide, club by club
Will Brodie
September 21, 2011

The Brownlow Medal is not just about who walks away with Charlie on the night. What about the players who deserve to be the top vote-winner at your club? Here's our verdict on the players who will be awarded the most votes, club-by-club*, along with some of the roughies who could catch the bookies napping.

RICHMOND

Don't think twice:

Smooth-moving distributor Trent Cotchin is a strong chance to reap the maximum in five matches, more than enough in a team that won eight games

Contenders:

At Richmond, it's all about the gun midfielders, Cotchin, Brett Deledio, and Dustin Martin. Perennial Tigers vote-leader Deledio was consistent, but perhaps not as dynamic as Cotchin. Martin had some quiet games between star turns on the ball and up forward. Others who are a chance to poll are lively forward Robin Nahas; and polished recruit Bachar Houli, who was fourth in the club's best and fairest.

2010: Brett Deledio, Jack Riewoldt 7; Dustin Martin 6; Shane Tuck 4.

Odds: Dustin Martin $1.80; Trent Cotchin $1.90; Brett Deledio $15.00; Robin Nahas $41.00; Bachar Houli $51.00

Apart from Richo a couple of years ago we never poll well. Even in games we win the opposition always seems to get some of the votes. Not expecting much

RICHMOND

Last winner: Ian Stewart (1971)

Season stats: The Tigers went from six wins in 2010 to eight and a draw this time around. The steady improvement continued under Damien Hardwick. Brett Deledio, Trent Cotchin, Dustin Martin, Bachar Houli, Robin Nahas, Nathan Foley, Ty Vickery and Jack Riewoldt didn't miss a match.

Best chance: The bookies are keeping Trent Cotchin safe in betting but Dustin Martin's game-breaking style gives him the edge among the men from Punt Road. He kicks goals, roosts the ball and dishes out more 'don't argues' than a strict parent. Get on him in 2012.

Outside hope: Houli has been a hit since his crossed from Windy Hill. He hangs onto the ball for a while so the umpires are sure to realise it's him in possession. Could surprise a few.

The umps hate us, they prove that week after week during the season.
Brownlow votes are rare as hens teeth, Richo only got votes because he finally became as lovable to the media as he was to Tiger fans.

We've got no chance so who cares

I think I'll put on the DVD of the dreamtime game instead of watching the brownlow  ;D

Triple Brownlow medalist Bob Skilton will be presenting the medal to the winner this year. Sounds like Judd or Goodes will be the winner.

Richmond

D. Martin $1.75
T. Cotchin $1.90
B. Deledio $15
Not Quoted $21
R. Nahas $51
B. Houli $51

MUNSIE SAYS: Equal biggest market mover of any team, Dustin Martin has been backed from $2.75 into $1.75. Initial favourite Trent Cotchin has drifted from $1.70 to $1.90.

QUINN'S BET: Cotchin has been more consistent but Martin starred in the games the Tigers won.

I still remember us beating Port in 08. Only ended up winning by 4 points but we were the better side all day and they werent in it til the last 5 minutes. from memory it was Tuck who got 3 votes and two Port players got the 1 and 2. Bowdo had 40 touches, Cleve kicked 6 and Morton kicked 5. they all missed out....

Going through the games I think Cotch will just pip Dusty with Robbie Nahas next.

R1: Jack make get a vote for his 6 goals.
R2: Milne will get the 3. Lids and Grigg could share the 2 and 1.
R5: Dusty should be a certain 3. Jack and Nahas may get a vote.
R6: Nahas and Dusty should get votes. Luke Power could get the 3 though (didn't he kick 4 goals?)
R7: Out of Cotch, Nahas and maybe Lids & Houli.
R9: Should be a certain 3 for Cotch. Rance and Lids for the minors.
R10: We were crap but it was still a close game. Houli or Foley may get a vote.
R12: Houli could get a vote.
R13: Dusty 3 votes and Cotch 2.
R14: Foley might get a vote
R17: Like the Port game. Nahas may get a vote.
R21: Houli 3, Cotch 2 and maybe Lids 1.
R22: Dusty, Axel and Tucky to share the votes. The umps will probably give Sylvia the 3 though.
R23: Cotch a certain 3.
R24: A narrow loss so Nahas or Dusty may get a vote(s).
