I think we choose as good a player as we could with our picks, but I don't think we we able to pick up exactly the type of players we ideally would have, had they been available.

But I also remember Richard Tambling bursting through the centre in his first NAB Cup game, having two bounces and kicking a 60 metre torpedo goal. I now refrain from judging drafts prematurely.

I gave it a 6/10 overall as it's hard to judge with just 3 picks. While it's a positive that there's a clear switch to drafting solid bodied players who don't need to wait 3 preseasons to put on weight, I would've thought we needed another classy 6' 2" (187cm) midfielder to upgrade from a Tuck or Jacko and to add more midfield depth. Then theres Elton who seems to be vying for the same position/role as Griffiths. It seems we decided that the 2011 draft was more about adding depth and size than fixing any remaining positional deficiencies. There was no big key defender or classy medium forward on offer that we were interested in..

Elton will be a few years in the making ala Vickery and JR8 but I think he has as much if not more of an upside starting off as either of those fellas did if you do a comparison.  This bloke could of gone very early if he hadm't of muffed up the nationals and got bitten by the spider etc.  Might be a blessing for us though.  Griffs is still going to come on and kick some stool regulation valve  for us no problems there.  Goddam filter...

The club would probably agree with you MT but in this year's draft any classy midfielders that we rated were most likely gone by the time we got our first pick so they have done the best they could given the circumstances.  I gave them a 7 because I could see their strategy/thinking, I agreed with it, and I think they did a reasonable job of achieving it.  Of course, feel free to wheel in the hindsight trolley now!

give yourself an uppercut.  But if you look at their respective stats, on paper, Elton looks more promising, he isn't a soccer convert like Riewoldt was, he is more athletic than both Vickery and Jack but can play and can kick the guts out of it....don't make me come over there you stuffin.....  We still on for the weekend?
