Salary cap could be a problem. On the vets' list only half of Newy's salary counts towards the salary cap and that could push us under the minimum 92.5% of the salary cap every club needs to pay.

From a list management point of view it would be better to have a few salary cap "fillers" this year which can then be freed up from 2013 onwards for free agency as well as to use to keep our young guns who will want more money as they reach their prime years.

Examples of salary cap fillers would be:
* Keeping Newy on our senior list for another year so his full salary counts towards our 2012 salary cap
* Having Goo's salary for next year of his contract count towards our 2012 salary cap even if he departs now
* Front-loading contracts of Cotch, Dusty, etc.... so you pay them more now and not so much in subsequent years so our salary cap doesn't become a problem in future years.

Gourdis hasn't been sighted at training yet, so I suggest there's our PSD spot.

well, i haven't sighted anyone at training yet .

is this 'unsighted at training' from someone who attends lots of training sessions, or based on the fact that gourdis (along with others  ::)  ) has not been seen in any of the training pics or video?

Someone asked the same thing of Goudis on BF when the footage of McCarthy training was up and Stig said something like "Goudis is there. Can't get photos/videos of everyone." something like that. On my phone at the moment so it's too cumbersome to search but I think it might be early in the McCarthy permission to train thread.

Paying McCarthy would certainly help make a bit of ground too. Could even bump it a smidgen to scare off Port from drafting a player who doesn't want to be there and match the pay too.
