Cotchin on SEN
« on: December 13, 2011, 05:03:25 PM »
SEN said earlier that Cotch will be on the 'run home' tonight. I don't think he's been on yet.

Summary

* Arizona was fantastic. Breaks up the preseason training and great to meet the young boys.

* Not heaps of altitude training; more hiking instead. What we did was still hard work on the lungs.

* Young boys have been fantastic. As has been mentioned in the papers, our club is about drafting not only good footballers but also good characters.

* Not sure when the new boys from today come in but looking forward to meet them as we did with the National draft boys.

* Addam Maric is short so we'll know the difference from Ivan lol.

* Ivan is a fantastic guy. Cotch roomed with Ivan over in Arizona. Not sure if that was deliberate given Cotch will need to get to know Ivan well playing in the midfield. Good guy and has leadership potential and experience to pass onto the young guys.

* Asked about Foley, Nahas and Kingy all coming from the rookie draft. Are rookies treated differently? They are well looked after nowdays. Normally young guys and it's normally their first full-time paid job. Treated the same as everybody as they do the same training etc.

* Asked about our lack of consistency issue? If you look at our results against top 4 sides in 2011, we competed in parts but not over the whole 4 quarters. Cliche but we need to work hard over 4 quarters week in week out. That's expected not only from our supporters but the industry as a whole. From our view 2011 was disappointing as we finished 12th. Need to be in games for longer against more sides and hopefully that leads to finals.

* 3 sessions in Arizona as we do here at Richmond. The main thing we've worked on is when we choose that lower percentage kick we need to hit our targets as that kick has hurt us in the past and sides have scored heavily against us.

* Likes the look of Ellis. His smokey though is Dea. Real improvement from him and may be a regular in the side.

* We finish up training on the 23rd Dec for the Christmas break and are back on the 5th January and back into footy mode.

* Facilities at the club are brilliant now. Matched what we saw over in the US so we are lucky to have them.

Very interesting RE Matt Dea.

Wouldn't think Cotchin would give someone a wrap without it being close to the mark and have it come back to bite him on the backside.
Go Tigers!

Here's the audio for those that missed Cotch's interview with David Schwarz and Mark Allen the other day:
