2012 NAB AFL Draft and Trade Period: key dates

August

Wednesday, August 1, 2pm - Nomination deadline for 17-year-old players under second and final year of GWS Giants Trade Incentive Rules.

October

Monday, October 1 - Commencement of Restricted Free Agency Offer and Unrestricted Free Agency period. Ends Friday, October 19.

Friday, October 5, 2pm - Nomination of Father-Son Eligible Players and Academy Bidding Players.

Monday, October 8, 10am - Father Son Eligible Players and Academy Players Bid Meeting.

Monday, October 8 - Commencement of Trade Period. Ends Friday, October 26.

Friday, October 19, 2pm - Deadline for GWS Giants to pre-list balance of any uncontracted players under List Establishment rules.

Friday, October 19, 5pm - Close to Restricted Free Agency Offer and Unrestricted Free Agency Period.

Tuesday, October 23, 5pm - Trade Incentive Rule (17 year-olds). Deadline for trading.

Friday, October 26, 2pm - End of Trade Period.

Friday, October 26, 2.10pm - Trade Incentive (17 year-olds) Selection.

Wednesday, October 31, 2pm - List Lodgement One.

Thursday, November 1 - Commencement to Delisted Player Free Agency Period. Ends Tuesday, November 13.

Thursday, November 15, 2pm - List Lodgement Two.

Friday, November 16, 2pm - Delisted Player Draft Nomination deadline, Non-Retained Rookies Draft Nomination deadline, Nominated of Queensland Zone Priority Selections and Nomination of NSW/ACT Zone Priority Selections.

Thursday, November 22 - NAB AFL National Draft, Gold Coast Convention Centre.

Friday, November 23 - Second Delisted Player Free Agency Period commences. Ends Wednesday, November 28.

Wednesday, November 28, 2pm - Out of Contract Listed Players Nomination deadline, International Players Nomination deadline, Players Not Registered / Played Three Years deadline, NSW Scholarship and International Scholarship Players deadline.

Wednesday, November 28, 5pm - Second Delisted Player Free Agency Period ends.

For future reference this is what we have come up with in terms of who is contracted to when. If anyone has any corrections to this list post it in this thread and I or WP will update it .

Contract and playing list and jumper numbers updated - 27/11/2012

New rules: The inside /outside veteran distinction has now been abolished. All clubs (ex GWS and GC) can have 38-40 players on their senior list, and a maximum of 47 in total, including up to 3 category B rookies [eg: internationals] and a maximum of 6 category A rookies (with the number reduced if they choose to have 39 or 40 on the senior list).
