Arnott rolled his ankle in a one on one contest in the 3rd. He had it strapped and was doing run throughs on the boundary just before the siren.

Elton is impressive as is O'Hanlon. Elton IMO needs to lead more, he seems to have pace but I don't think he uses it enough.

Mini Maric was disappointing ran himself into trouble a bit.

Derikx  - not sure what role they are wanting him to play to be honest. Played mainly forward but contested well but doesn't take enough of them in contested situations IMO.

I'd seriously look at playing Griffiths next week. We need size down back and he played like he wanted to play seniors next week most of the time. Unfortunately cannot say the same about Post.

There doesnt really seem to be any other option.

God i hope they dont do something like bring vickery back in and send miller down back.

WP - we hear that Griff uses the ball really well out of defence, did you see this today?

Also, how is his spoiling and one on one in defence?

Connors: was OK. Kicked goals when he had the opportunities but I don.t know why they didn't play him in the middle a bit just to try something different

Not enough gut running and spread by Coburg.

Wright & Darrou ,both played and they show a bit but are a long way off from AFL

Browne was ok as well. He & Gus shared the ruck duties. Browne though seems to run harder than Gus though when it came to dropping back

Agree with that he makes good decisions. And his spoiling was good. Only worry was that at times he stood back and was slow to react when he needed to go in and help. Only did it couple of times but he needs to get better at it. Good sign was his work in packs showed no fear or worry about his shoulders. Can take a contested grab too

if he is slow to react in the VFL then we dont want him in the AFL. Good news he got through the game. Many more games & he might be right for AFL

Saw a game at a venue that to me seemed straight out of stalinist Russia...Anyone who bags our facilities should go and check this monstrocity out.sticks out like an eyesore ,and seems poorly built too.
Anyway back to the game..graham battled hard in the ruck and seems to have discovered a mean streak too.saw him crash a few packs.Mini maric got a fair bit of the ball and has good skills, however for mine just doesnt do enough off the ball.White was ok without starring.Connors competed well and at times his skills are sublime.Further to what the other guys here said ,i saw Connors spit the dummy on the boundary line ,to the point where the coburg coach had to come over and have a chat to him.Dont know what the isssue was ,however Daniel appeared to not be a happy camper.Griff was ok without starring, and post too was similar, although griff does appear to have more of a football brain than Posty.darou and piva seem along way off .Elton does everything right ,and is coming along.Arnott was ok ,but nothing more.
Browne tries hard and works hard ,but just lacks some polish.dont know who i left out but the others were meh.

As a side note .At half time was in their canteen area under the stand (whose roof seems like its way too low) and a gentleman in front of me ordered a cup of tea. When he turned around it was t shirt tommy who was watching the game with his lovely wife.and oh by the way who is the real coach of coburg is it potter or jake king(ha ha ha ha)jake seemed to be doing lots of pointing and directing traffic from the boundary line.

I got to the game today and I walked away even more depressed then last night because I don't believe this Coburg situation is working at all.

Conners was very good up forward in my opinion and should be considered for senior selection. He gave Coburg something that Richmond lacks, and that is a leading marking medium forward.

Post was ok but not the best game he has played for Coburg. However I don't think his performance today was his fault and I will touch on that later. He looks very fit to me and should be playing seniors in my opinion. He has a lot more to offer us then Miller!

Piva is a competitor and tries hard but he turns it over constantly by foot.

Dourou see Piva

Maric was lively but he never goes near a hard contest. He reminds me of the boundry rider Cam Howat. At AFL level he would be a liability because of his unwillingness to put his body on the line. He did play well today but I would not play him at AFL level.

Webberly was very average today. He just couldn't get into the contest and was pushed aside like a junior at times. Gone at end of this year IMHO.

Elton was ok. He is developing well and I liked what I saw at times today especially when he was sent to the backline. He will be a very good player for Richmond in a few years if we don't ruin him first.

O'Hanlon show he is a class player and will debut towards the end of the year if we fall out finals contention. I would have Conners well ahead of him at the moment to play that similar role of a medium forward.

Griffiths played well and in fact probably the best I've seen him play for Coburg or Richmond. The problem is that he looks really unfit and was out on his feet at times. He was cramping up badly in the last quarter. Based on his fitness, surely he could not be considered for the seniors next week.

White was typical of Matt White. Flashy around the contest and gave his all. He is one player that always turns up to play hard for the club.

Graham, Browne and Derickx were all reasonable without starring. Graham was probably the best of the bunch.

Arnot looks tough but I doubt he will ever be a consistant AFL player. He is like a Pittbull trying to compete against Greyhounds.

Ferrier is just totally out of his depth. I can't see why we selected this guy.

Now for my beef with Coburg and Richmond which relates to the development of our key talls. There are a few issues here that I would like to point out.

If we are goiing to try and develop players who are natural forwards by teaching them to play as defenders what is the point of doing this if your going to make them play as a unaccountable third tall defender. Any flogg can sit back in the hole and cut off the ball as it gets bombed in. If you are going to teach them defence then make them lock down their opponent and play the position properly as a Key defender should.

SO WHY WOULD WE PLAY POST AND AT TIMES GRIFFITHS AS UNACCOUNTABLE DEFENDERS??????? TO TEACH THEM??

The answer to why we do this is because we are just plain and simply clueless! We will just fail to develop them via our own Richmond  stupidity and then delist them in a years time because they didn't make it. Just like Schulz! Then another AFL side will then pick them up and turn them into the players they should be and that is natural key forwards.

The other point I want to make is why are we playing 3 ruckman in the one team. The extra ruckmen is getting in the way of developing the likes of Elton, Post and Griffiths. Today they just kept on getting in the way of the marking contests.

The last point I would like to make is that in my opinion this arrangement with Coburg is just not working. I just don't believe the Coburg set up is an effective way for us to develop our kids. I just don't see the right teaching methods nor do I see enough professional development. Compared to Geelong system which I have seen first hand we are just miles off the mark.

I share the frustration crack in taking many of our drafted forwards into defence. I can only assume playing as third in is teaching to read play and perhaps get them more involved than otherwise would in a lock down mode

Well done cracker. Great job.
The situation is stupid because we don't have a stand alone reserves team.
With your own team you develop them exactly how you want and when there's a need in the seniors they slot straight in to play the role they've been developed in.
We were supposed to do this asap but now we have signed with coburg for more years of mediocre development with the stupid situation that we have.
The club that keeps giving.
