2012 All-Australian side - Congrats to Cotch & Lids

Not according to Robbo ...

THE TACKLE 2012 ALL-AUSTRALIAN TEAM (version 1)
Mark Robinson
Herald-Sun
May 21, 2012

A THIRD of the season has come and gone, and similar to the evenness of the season proper, an All-Australian team has more candidates than placements.

Unlike other AA teams, be it punters and the official AA selectors, I am not going to spread midfielders over the back and forward flanks. Players will be picked where they actually play, so Brett Deledio, who has played midfield this year, can't be considered for a back flank.

That said, the bench will be chock-full of them.

The midfield group was clearly the most difficult.

There are five spots and the names were elite: Pendlebury, Ablett, Kennedy, Watson, Stanton, Deledio, Dangerfield, Thompson, Sidebottom, Hayes, Swan, Judd, Griffen ...

There are apologies and there headaches.

The team is:

B: Dustin Fletcher (Ess), Ted Richards (Syd), Scott Thompson (NM)

HB: Beau Waters (WC), Michael Johnson (Frem), Heath Shaw (Coll)

C: Brent Stanton (Ess), Scott Thompson (Adel), Dane Swan (Coll)

HF: Steele Sidebottom (Coll), Lance Franklin (Haw), Lewis Jetta (Syd)

F: Stewart Crameri (Ess), Taylor Walker (Adel), Cyril Rioli (Haw).

Foll: Dean Cox (WC), Scott Pendlebury (Coll), Gary Ablett (GC)

Inter: Sam Jacobs (Adel), Patrick Dangerfield (Adel), Jobe Watson (Ess), Josh Kennedy (Syd)

The apologies list is long: Ryder, Griffen, the Selwood brothers, Deledio, the Hawks back in Birchall and Gibson who have missed footy, and Judd, among others.

DIMMA - You will be held ACCOUNTABLE...

It's a BW anyway, who are they playing against? The players know who is who and personally I don't think they could give a toss over this list.

What the hell in a Naught Melbourne player doing in the team?

Has Swan really been that good this season?

Lewis Jetta lol.

Rance, Lids,Cotchin
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

he doesnt deserve a mention he has not been good enough in several areas.
its only really us richmond people who rate him.
imo we should have 3 in contention atm.
maric imo has been the best ruckman in the comp to date.
deledio has been superb.
cotchin has been consistent and eye catching not sure about weight of possesins though.
honorable mention to grigg woulkd say his season has been every bit as good as stantons to date.

Granted the irony of this 'snip' given claw mentioned about being able to have your say on here but we as mods have mentioned numerous times to leave discussion about other Tiger forums off OER's forum. Ta.

Now back to the topic.... :yep

maric compared to cox in basic stats is interesting.  will put the other ruckman jacobs in as well.
disposals- cox 130, maric 128, jacobs 107,
marks - cox 44 maric 37, jacobs 32.
ho - cox 180, maric 234, jacobs 245.
based on that id say big ivan is a bit stiff indeed.

sandilands percentage wise is probably in front of them all but played just 6 games.jamar leads the league for hit outs. with 295.

bit harsh i reckon. hes playing primarily as a small forward is getting about 15 possesions agame and has kicked 18 goals so far this season. if that translates into a full season that would be 50 plus goals for a small forward. we should also not underestimate his forward pressure.

i do understand where your coming from though but until he moves permanently into a midfield role he may not scale the heights people expect.
