Rapt in the 'ins': Tyrone to stand up and 'stretch' the undersized Hawks whilst Big Griif to get the job on 'Roughy'. Miller can start preparing for life as a member of the coaching panel by mentoring the youngsters at Coburg. Win, Win and Win if you ask me.
dont get this post why do you think the hawks are undersized. even with tyrone and griffiths both forward they have a spare tall.

One defender (who isn't much chop) at 193cm .....and the others hovering around 189cm......although it may backfire if this rain keeps falling.
lol gilham a premiership fb 192, birchall a defensive running back at 193, schoenmakers a 21 yr old 193 chb,
gibson a 189 athletic third tall capable of playing kp. stratton another 189cm player in the same mould as gibson. we go with just riewoldt and vickery who are both taller but out numbered 2 to one.
the hawks arent short down back they are the opposite.

if anyone is short down back its us. thank Geez they had enough sense to bring in at least one  tall defender whos really a forward to help rance.lets hope he stays when grimes gets back. god knows what we would have done if bailey was fit and they played hale forwad in the role they recruited him for.
there is no room for error and there is no flexability and we are asking blokes too often to punch out of their weight division.
I was referring to the fact that the 'in': Vickery, and after relection 'Griffiths' as well, will stretch them as they dont have a 'monster' backman. If Tyrone kicks a few and we win I suppose my point may be proven....if not,well...........
dont we expect our key forwards to kick two or three every week. depending on what else vickery does work rate presenting bullocking for team mates chasing tackling 3 goals could well be a failure ffs miller was getting two a game or there abouts.
can you really see griffiths playing forward with jack and vickery leaving just one genuine tall defender in rance that would be madness. if we wanted to stretch them or have good flexability we needed to pick another tall probably post who can swing forward and back.
win lose or draw i really dont agree with the current structure. 5  genuine talls is really pushing the limits and opens a real can of worms if injury happens or someone gets of the leash and starts cutting us up.
the way we structure up there is an almost total reliance on mid field domination and when that doesnt happen we get burnt. its cost us games but noone wants admit it.

If Dimma is smart, he would put Griffiths at FF to create a problem down there & have Rewoldt move out to CHF & make him win his own ball & free him up. Have Maric & Vickery dropping into defence to help out the backline, Our smaller defence should be able to carry the ball out through to Rewoldt & Deledio.

Damien Hardwick has been the right man for the coaching job from the very beginning. Its unbelievable to think that many on this site wanted Jade Rawlings lol. Hardwick is improving and doing the right things, his choices of bringing in people like Ross Smith also show that we have the right coach. Hardwick has us right on track IMHO.

The coaching spot that I sometimes wonder about is our stoppages coach.  We don't seem to have the set plays in the forward 50 that other clubs do and we don't always defend back 50 stoppages well.

That soar, we did well in the back 50 stoppages after half time today.

Coached the absolute pants off Clarkson and co, saw a lot of jigsaw puzzle pieces placed together today.  Much more work to be done and there a still some frustrating backward steps to negotiate but it's hard to argue that we aren't on the right path with the right people in place.

I'm not sure about set plays in our forward 50 Muscles but gee they have got a defensive mindset that most other clubs would envy.  The increase in forward 50 pressure has been one of the 2 main differences between last years Tige's and this years.  The other is the difference having a competitive ruckman has made to our midfield.

griffiths will be ok we always win when he plays too

lets see how long his on the park before injury strikes. Wonder if sportsbet has any odds up on that   ;D

Update from Sportingbet
Griffiths play time round 9 26th May 2012
$1.80 20 mins or less
$2.20 21 mins-30 Mins game time
$4.80 31-60 mins
$10.00 61 mins plus.

Money back if injured in warm or injured while bursting through the banner .
Last time you posted odds like this on a player (Matt Dea) he had a blinder (well not exactly a blinder).
Griff will star for us now!

Have to agree with you there, Smoke.  Our forward 50 pressure was tops.  So many times the Dawks kicked it out in a hurry and we most often has players there to contest and send it back in.

Ge I wish we had you in the coaches box, maybe we would have won by more.

Hows John Butcher going? injured? Can't tell where you start and he ends.. Good game by Ben with his 'plastic' wings.

All the best to your black and white magpies tonight, they should beat Adelaide. #Gopies #knob
