Listen, i sit near this group and cant recall anything over thetop but id urge caution....the afl mean business, this poo is in the news and theyd love to make scapegoats...id hate for these fellas to be kicked out over a few 4 letter words...pull horns in boys
BJ these guys have been going to the footy for years. For years they have shown up rain hail or shine - when we were crap. And now we have some supposed Richmond supporters who have probably only started supporting us again in the last 6 weeks who have gone to the footy and decided that those bad boys in the Grog Squad should be dealt with. ITS A stuffEN DISGRACE! People who rat on the Grog Squad should hang their heads in shame. Do us a favor - pee of Idiots. We havent needed you over the last 20 years and we dont need you now you wankers.
Is there actually any evidence that the 'dobbers' were other Tiger supporters?
It's a big coincidence that Jack kicks 8 goals meaning his chant (which has been sung at every game after every goal of his) would have got a decent workout all night and that we were playing against St Kilda where the same chant mocks his cousin Nick as a crybaby.
There's no doubt we've got the best Riewoldt
There's no doubt we've got the best Riewoldt
There's no doubt we've got the best Riewoldt
and he doesn't stuffing cry!Sounds more like the dobbers would've been sore-loser Saint supporters. They are some of the worst around from past experience especially if you make any comment about one of their players yet they love mouthing off at the opposition
.
I think Jackstar and others have hit the nail on the head about newbie hangers on being the most likely source of any trouble. It happens in the Soccer as well. Little and not so little punks who think chanting with the big boys is an excuse to get off their face saying the f-word and worse every 10 seconds and acting like total tools spoiling it for everyone else. Regulars who go every week normally know where the boundary is and often talk to the authorities in charge (mind you Etihad security is often a joke so I'm not surprised by WP's experience with them). Anyway with the grog squad's chants there's swearing but whenever I've stood up the back (4 times this year) in the bay near the grog squad there's never been abuse toward other supporters from the regulars I know there. Quite the contrary as usually after a goal everyone is high 5-ing, jumping up and down and even hugging one another with joy
. On the rare occasion there's been an issue, it's usually some hero no one knows or has seen before whose smashed and rocks up late in the game alone giving his unwanted opinions. They don't last long as they aren't welcome. Most of the time the clown is an opposition supporter too. Two Hawk fans sitting in a Richmond members area next to the cheer squad looking for a fight were each escorted out of the ground by 8 MCG security guards two weeks ago.
Anyhow there's a massive difference between some swearing and banter now and then towards those out on the green turf and being violent bashing innocent people or throwing beer in their faces. The news reports stupidly give the impression it was those chanting behind the goals that were the cowardly thugs in the lift. The thug from Jan Juc has been arrested thankfully. He should be banned from footy for life and thrown in jail. We don't need morons like that roaming the streets let alone at the footy.
