Can he be offered George’s spot if he works out? Plus can he play for our afl side from the vfl list as his contract now stands??
Nup. With the supplementary period finished, we can't fill that spot until the MSD and that is done via reverse ladder order at the time. So any club below us on the ladder could poach one of our VFL-listed players before our pick.
So if he wants to come to Richmond he can say he wants to play for us when we fill George’s spot in the msd or he just has to go with whoever drafts him??
The latter. Anyone can grab him in the MSD.

I believe clubs needs to offer & negotiate contracts terms so the only way to protect a VFL asset would be to agree to terms that aren't attractive to another club.

VFL Tigers secure comeback win over Casey

By Grace Kalac

4 March 2023

Richmond VFL overcame a 25-point half-time deficit to secure a one-point practice match win over Casey on Saturday at Casey Fields.

The hit-out was the Tigers' first of four practice games, the new-look side showing plenty of positives against the reigning premier.

There were eight new VFL players who ran out in the colours for the first time against the Demons, including small forward Harrison White, formerly of Werribee, who was dynamic with three goals.

Seven AFL players competed in the pre-season clash; Hugo Ralphsmith, Tyler Sonsie, Sam Banks, Rhyan Mansell, Kaelan Bradtke, Samson Ryan and Ben Miller, all of which were solid contributors.

Exciting recruit Mutaz El Nour impressed with his athleticism in defence, while fellow defender Garrett McDonagh was a welcomed re-inclusion back into the team following his year on Essendon's AFL rookie list.

White got the ball rolling for Richmond in the first term by booting the side's opening goal, which was quickly followed by a major from Lachlan Johnson.

Playing predominately up forward, Johnson showed exciting signs for the season ahead as he showcased his strong game sense and decision-making.

It was a slower second quarter for the Tigers, going goalless as Casey took control of the contest and added four to their tally.

Richmond came back firing in the third term however, kick-started by a Mansell major before Samson Ryan got in on the action with one himself.

Twenty-two-year-old Ryan was dominant in the ruck throughout the game and followed up well at ground level.

Crafty half-forward White was skilful in slotting the next two, as the Tigers bridged the gap to 10 points at the final change.

Experienced VFL Tiger Angus Hicks worked hard all day and was rewarded on the scoreboard, before Beau Tedcastle slotted his first in the Yellow and Black.

Late in the final quarter, Ralphsmith brought the Tigers within one straight kick after a clever snap, the 21-year-old a standout throughout the clash with his dash and dare.

In the dying minutes, Tom Brindley marked in the goal square and kicked truly to put the Tigers in front and seal the win.

Richmond VFL's next pre-season challenge will come against Sandringham next Friday, March 10 at the Swinburne Centre from 5.30pm.

Hmm the obvious question. Why only 7 afl listed players arent all players available and if so why has it not been mentioned.
What 2 weeks from season start why are we not putting games into every player who qualifies for the seniors. Are we starting to believe our own hype.

If we beat Casey who are the reigning premiers I believe with only 7 afl listed players, that’s pretty impressive.

Gee I don't know?

Maybe some didn't play because they are injured?

Surely you are not suggesting playing blokes who are injured in praccy games?
