Bulldogs are copying us and planning to have their own stand alone VFL team by 2014.

http://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/westernbulldogsnewsfeatures/newsarticle/tabid/4112/newsid/148166/default.aspx

Are they going to pay the license fee in one cent pieces?

Seriously though how do they find it?

They receive over a millim bucks a year from the AFL, that's the only way they make a profit.

So how can they justify spending money they don't have to field a VFL side?

Perhaps we should put our hand out to Andy D and ask them to fund ours

Yep it's rubbish, how are they possibly going to fund this? Put themselves in debt without a care in the world as they know the afl will keep them afloat. peees you off when you see how hard we've had to work to get our own side and we are a lot better resourced than that rabble

Couldn't agree more!!!

Can Andy D buy me lunch?

Seriously why is it that RFC supporters are asked to dig deep for TFTF in order to field their own reserves side and yet the Bulldogs who are basically broke just up and decide that they want one too?!?!

The key words being **** grounds like the Whitten Oval. I remember speaking to a tigers fan in 1993. He had broken his leg after slipping on effluent at the whitten oval that year
Believe this has changed with regard to the Whitten Oval.
Howard made a late bid for votes in the West with a promise of $8million to upgrade and when he lost to Rudd the promise was kept by Gillard.
Vaguely recall Gillard opening facilities at Whitten Oval recently. They have certainly upped their sports science area with a strong partnership with Victoria University for use of an altitude room amonst other things and also including the cyrochamber at their facilities at Whitten. Think they're in about the same stage as us and North or even slightly ahead in timing of the upgrade.
just checked.

Best thing if you ask me RD3.  Back to what it should always have stayed at - AFL clubs with their own reserves sides, leaving the VFA(L) to be what it always was - a strong and vibrant competition with it's strength being it's community roots.

i agree re: it should have stayed as it was...funny how everything old
becomes new again, what a lot of wasted years it has turned
out to be for it seems most clubs now wanting their own reserves sides.

some mone made mention how Knights had all the latest tech gear at
last weeks VFL G/F but Port had to cans and a piece of string.

a club like Eddywood will up the ante and plow money into their reserves
program and as all good sheep do they follow.

give it 5 years and the headline via Caro will be
"Fuhrer concerned about cost blowout"

Gotta wonder if it was all planned to kill off the old VFA.

ii did take them a century do do so.
I have little doubt that since the VFL broke away they harbored an animosity towards the VFA.

Seeing the demise of the VFA probably has probably been a back room discussion amongst the VFL power brokers in all that time

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Melbourne may have to go it alone with their own VFL side even if they can't afford it  :wallywink as the Casey Scorpions are in huge debt.

It seems we're moving closer and closer towards an AFL reserves competition as the old VFA clubs struggle to survive in the VFL.

I heard jack watts speak at the Casey B&F and he promised the supporters as long as he was around the club would survive. I believed the passion in her voice.

For example, how many collingwood listed vfl players exist?

Stand alone AFL sides in the VFL must have a minimum number of VFL listed players only. Not sure of the exact number but for memory it is about 10-12
