I asked about Macrae some time back after he was TAC final BoG and I recall someone saying he had an awkward kicking action that might not hold up in AFL. Not sure if that was just being pedantic or not. I don't know anything else about him other than he is a massive Pies fan. His uncle was talking to Eddie on MMM breakfast about him around finals time.

In that article his under 18's coach said his kicking lacked penetration, his one weakness..

Id go berserk if we went this way, who was the last bloomin defender taken with a top 10 selection , midfielders or key forwards...sheesh this would be bloody lunacy :o
i can think of a few who went pretty close to pick 10 in the last 5 or 6 yrs.

09 talia.12
11 tomlinson 8
06 ben reid 8
06 n brown 10
07 henderson 8
08 davis 10
06 frawley 12
08 hurley 5
seems to me if you want the best of anything mid, forward, or  defender you take em early. lots of very good defenders have been taken in recent yrs around our pick 9.
personally if i was chasing a kpd at pick 9 id be looking at tom cluery.
still havent seen a thing on any of the kids to make me change my mind on stringer especially after his testing at the draft camp. dont reckon he will be there at 9 though. if stringer is gone its still vlastuin for me.

im hoping at pick 9 the club takes what it deems as the best available player weather that be a defender forward or mid.

I like the look of him, quick off the mark and a good turn of speed.....excellent overhead and another classy left footer....

Gee if we could land pics 12/13 (likely to be pic 14) off GWS for our pic 9 and perhaps a player we could surely snare 2 from this lot; Kennedy, Vlastuin, Garlett or Menzel....

***On talent alone Menzel, a forward-midfielder, has the credentials to be taken inside the top 10 at the ND next month, but clubs will first need to be completely satisfied that his LARS surgery won't be a major issue in the future...

    PICK 9:
    TEAM: RICHMOND
    PLAYER: Jackson Macrae
    HEIGHT: 189cm
    WEIGHT: 76kg

Macrae has essentially come from nowhere this year to become a top ten prospect, especially after his impressive season in both the National Championships and the TAC Cup.

He's a very, very smart midfielder, a great runner, another good reader of the play with solid vision and awareness, mixed with exceptional skills, pace
    and work rate.

He's become a favourite of mine in 2012, and after kicking 6 goals as a midfielder against Tasmania in the national carnival, he got tongues wagging amongst recruiters, and was also another heavily interviewed player at the combine.

He won the game for the Chargers in the TAC Cup, famously kicking a point to seal the win; he was also named BOG in the TAC Grand Final, too.

Macrae is a lofty, creative left-footer who starred with 44 touches in a representative schools match later in the.

Macrae also finished equal second in the Brad Johnson kicking test at the combine, and is seen to be a bit of an excitement machine, that will provide many highlights for whichever team he is drafted to

Pick 9 needs to be THE BEST AVAILABLE midfielder!

Would love a tough, classy, skilful midfielder.

Who can just slot into the midfield!

Agree we need the best available midfielder with pick 9. Macrae is a BIG no as far as I'm concerned.

After our last two first selectiona it'd be nice to get someone that slides rather than picking a playerhigher than expected.

Tom Clurey
Dayle Garlett
Nathan Hrovat

ps. For some reason (to avoid spam presumably) the forum only allows 3 links in each post so excuse the multiple posts.
