Don't need Jaksch, but I'd be wrapped if we managed to get Grundy.

Wines is a better option than Vlastuin, both will be good.

What's peoples thoughts on Menzel? Is he worth taking the risk on with pick 9, as there seems to be the growing possibility that he'll be there.

The other one I'd like to pick up is Stringer.

You we do need a Jaksch type player. When you consider the injury concerns on Griffiths, Grimes, when you consider that Elton is just a kid as well, that Astbury needs to massively improve in the next 12 months, that McGuane was played up forward and that we still have Derrickx on our list then yeah I reckon we need a Jaksch type player.

Your just adding the exact type of player to the list of players you just gave.

Thats exactly the point, the list I gave is a list where we have some talent but doubts exist with every single player I named. Jaksch will help give us more options in the talls area and he is a very good young player and one who isnt a reach at 9. Im a big Grundy as well fan but think he will go to Port Adelaide. I will be absolutely delighted if we get either Jaksch or Grundy tomorrow night at pick nine.

Emma Quayle will have her phantom draft in the Age tomorrow morning. She said tonight she doesn't believe Wines will get to pick 9.

So it now appears it's either Vlastuin if we want a mid or Jaksch if we go for a tall.

    There will be some shocks tomorrow night. Think Bulldogs and Port sway the draft in a new direction. Last hearing is Richmond may have gone cold on Vlastuin. Nothing is sure.

    Grundy getting to North or Collingwood is remarkable. Garlett a late round pick the same. In a draft where top end talent is not as high as some other years, these two represent high end talent misplaced in the bargain bin.

    Stringer to Bulldogs along with Macrae letting Menzel slip. I just can't work it out what clubs think.

    Amazingly clubs picking at around Pick 20 may get better talent than those at Pick 5.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if FJ pulls one out of left field and doesn't select Vlastuin.  Maybe in talking him up by saying we will select him, we are encouraging those before us to select him letting other talent slip through.

DRAFT NEWS

The Herald Sun can reveal GWS will select devastating outside midfield stars Lachie Whitfield and Jono O'Rourke with its first two picks before calling the name of key defender Lachie Plowman at No.3.

It means Melbourne will land Adelaide's Jimmy Toumpas with pick 4.

Ollie Wines could quite easily be overlooked by the bulldogs who have a surplus of inside midfielders.

The dogs are firming to take Troy Menzel and Jakson MaCrae.

Port Adelaide have all but committed to Brody Grundy whilst Brisbane are still tossing up between Sam Mayes and Kristian Jaksch.

It means that the tigers could land the best inside midfielder of the draft with Wines looking likely to slip to Richmond in a dream result.

Jaksch seems to be a really quality young tall. At about 195cm and a good weight mid 80's, I think he could be a very good. We really dont have a tall CHF at all. Vickery seems like someone who will play the ruck/fwd role but a true CHF is a real benefit IMHO. I prefer us to go  tall with pick 9 and then take mids at 32, 34 and 43. Jaksch could be a really good pick if Brisbane dont take him.

People seem to have forgot on about Todd Elton. Just because he only played the one game last year doesn't mean he's not going to play more down the track I really rate this kid, he will play across the HF line and float through the Ruck, expect bigger things from him this season . I don't see why we would use pick 9 on a tall in exactly the same mould as one we allready have........

How would Elton fit in if if everyone's fit?

If wines gets to 9 then we must take him. The boys attitude, discipline, competitiveness and drive is probably close to the best in the draft. A ready made player, will make it 200+gamer

All major media outlets (Hun, Age and Inside Football) now have Vlastuin at pick 9 to us.

The first 5 picks seem set in stone now - Whitfield, O'Rourke, Plowman, Toumpas and Macrae - with Wines expected to go to Port at 7. So that leaves only the Dogs' second pick (#6) and Brisbane's pick as not certain.

Grundy> Looks good however picking up 18 yo ruckmen is not a good option, they take too long to mature, RFC loses patience and off they go, I would be inclined to try to get an established ruckman like Jonathon Griffin who is a gun but not getting a go at Freo, chuck some big $ and see what happens.
The established ruckman theory has worked well with Ivan, why not try it again??

Vlastuin however is tough at it and ready to go. He is a little slow but hard in larger bodied blokes with the most fearless mindset are what we are lacking, I like it that Brett Kirk is his mentor so you know he is a serious leadership type...hopefully.
