So how could the Cats get Caddy but we can't get Tyson, weren't they both under contract, is it that GWS just won't play?

Caddy was out of contract this year so he was free to leave and the Suns had to do a deal or they would've got nothing in return. On the other had Tyson is contracted so he can't walk out of GWS unless he sits out of footy for the next two years. Tyson is in the situation this year that Caddy was in last year when Essendon tried to poach Caddy.

As was well publicised, we were interested in trading for Dom. Unfortunately Dom still has one year to run on his contract at GWS, and he has decided to play out his contract with them. We will continue to look at all avenues to improve our list, both in the short and long term.

Sounds like they will be right back into Tyson next year. Also interesting to read Hartley's comments about first talking to knights 2 years ago.  Obviously the club is prepared to take a longer term/patient approach to getting players they identify to the club

Will be very hard getting Dom, everyone will be chasing him next year. We will have to give something big to get him. Our first round draft pick wont be enough as other clubs will offer higher picks and GWS will want a top 5 pick or a very good player and a lesser pick.
We wont be able to get him through the pre season draft either, anyone with pick 1 will snap him up, which would probably be GWS.

What can we give up to get him next year. GWS need forwards. Conca and our first round pick could do it.

Hopefully we have an over abundance of key talls this time next year. Astbury in form, Griffiths, Elton showing signs, Post (if he's still around) finally coming on.... then we'll have some valuable trade bait.
