VIDEO: Ricky talks about how his preseason is going ...

http://www.richmondfc.com.au/news/2014-01-22/petterd-adds-more-versatility

* This year I’ve been training in the midfield and on the wing.  I think that’s a strength of mine – my versatility and flexibility. I think that’s what Dimma wants.  He wants a few players running through there.  The more players we can get doing that, the better.

* I definitely have to take my tank to another level.  To date it’s still my best pre-season ever.  Touch wood I don’t do anything from here until the NAB Cup.

* In a way it was still a really enjoyable year for me.  I played in every game I was available for, so I was doing something right for Dimma. I’ll just hopefully continue to do that this year.  I’d like to think I can contribute in some sort of way, and play every week.

lol ive read the thread. only conclusion i can come to is the club and its supporters  loves its fair quota of duds. you know what and i cant believe it petterd actually has a high k/e rating yet a blind man can see hes a terrible kjick of the ball. those stats hey i wonder if thats about all they go on sometimes.

Looking forward to see what Ricky has to offer this year, let's hope it's something very good, I think he is a bit underrated my some.
DIMMA - You will be held ACCOUNTABLE...

Gives a good gobby this bloke. Even better than Gobby Graham's efforts before Maric was recruited.

its 2014 and the season is getting close.

i ask myself did he do enough to be kept. imo yes. but i disagree with promoting him to the list proper. we had an option to keep him on for another yr as a rookie.

where to play him. imo he should not be in the backline. for reasons ive already stated.  forward for me and if possible maybe even a part of rotations.

finally when i look at our needed defenders and rate their foot skills or decision making  i question all of grimes, chaplin, morris, rance and even houli only has one sdie and panics when pressured.
and we want to throw petterd into this mix.

when you look at the specialist forward options and type petterd could possibly be a required player.
sml forwards - s edwards, king, mcdonough, lloyd.
med forwards - banfield, gordon, knights.
med marking forwards - petterd, ohanlon, a edwards.

i still think we can afford to cut at least 4 of these forwards and address other areas like ruck, big bodied kpd  tall for and  mids with the long term in mind.

go ask port supporters about chaplins turnovers hes had his fair share at richmond as well. grimes possibly i am being harsh and am prepared to concede. its not important  with grimes anyway, he hardly touches it enough to matter.

and whats with the abuse you look like a 12 yr old and it doesnt make you right.  im not sure how you get away with it if ended every sentence with abuse im sure id get carded.

on one hand you say this, yet you argue against utilising martins kicking skills off half back by saying
Quote
finally how many sml/med /or tall running  defenders do we need. batchelor, dea, deledio, ellis, houli, mcintosh, morris, newman, petterd, vlastuin, and now martin. plus grimes really needs to add some sort of rebounding/running component to his game.

so it seems, that whatever they do, they will be wrong, in your opinion?
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."
