from that i take you don't think game time is necessary in the pre season and that the trip to cairns was also stupid, as they were training in much higher temps that they will play in friday night?

They're not in Darwin Ramps they are in Alice Springs

They are doing their AFL community camp up there, they requested it as part of the Club's commitment to its Indigenous programs that they run.

Personally I think it's fantastic and I applaud them for doing it

Nothing wrong with spreading our brand nationally and increasing our membership right across Australia. The NAB Cup is just over two weeks away so not long to wait until we see some footy live. We'll mostly see close to our full list play over the two mini NAB Cup matches anyway rather than this allstars game where many of our best players are missing.
