Yeah we are doing so much better.  If we make finals I'd be ecstatic, I'm getting sick of hoping.  This lot seem to have their heads screwed on right.  Benny has been great for the club.

Gees that was in 04', imagine if someone told them that in 2012 we still hadn't made finals.
At least we have gone and rebuilt properly imo and used a. Youth mentality, we now are picking up some experienced players to help get us over that hurdle until some of these cubs develop.

Not only have we rebuilt via youth but look at what we are paying for experienced players compared to the past. Mind blowing.
now that is a good post.
i used to be almost totally on the youth bandwagon because we just didnt use good picks on kids or enough of them.

when we  scream out yr after yr for a proper clean out and hope we adopt a youth policy but instead regularly trade away good picks for old men of which we had plenty of.. its the process and where the lkist is at in terms of age experience quality that determines what you can and should do.

the overriding process should have always been draft with 1st 2nd and hopefully 3rd round nd picks quality kids. trade for needs and experience later. build up a core and some depth then and only then if need be, use a good pick on a mature type who may get you into contention.
from 01 to 2010 we  had to be in the build the core and depth with kids anaalogy for no other reason than the list itself told us this was where were at.
now our list is telling us if we want to make finalks and contrend we  need to balance it out with a few more cheap mature players.

our performances tell us we are in no position to be trading away early picks for players keep building the core and depth go thru the right  processes.
if we have to wait to get say 12 15 good to high quality  players to 100 games to contend we will be waiting a long while to make it.

depending on where your list is at there is no such thing as a quick fix  its more about manage your list well have good overriding process to go thru that ensures you are always regenerating your list for the long term and it becomes all about both older players and youth its about getting the balance between the two right.
