2013 AFL Prospectus
« on: January 23, 2013, 09:40:29 AM »
Just received my copy.

Interesting bits of info are:

  • Last year 16th for age, now 11th and appears to be one of the best prepared for the introduction of free agency.
  • Equal 2nd most elite players in the competition, with 15 players rated in the top 35% of the competition - also ranked equal second.
  • Of the 9 clubs to boast 13 or more players in this category, the Tigers are the youngest list.
  • Midfield and attack rank 6th in the competition, defence is 13th.

Richmond created 24.6 forward of centre turnovers per game - ranked 1st (6 more than the previous season). We only punished teams 36% of the time with a score - ranked 11th.

Elite players: Deledio, Cotchin, Tuck, Maric, Riewoldt and Houli
Above Average: Foley, Martin, Grigg, Rance, Chaplin, Newman, Nahas, S. Edwards and A. Edwards
Average: Jackson, Grimes, McGuane, Morris, Batchelor, Vickery and King
Below Average: Conca, Knights, Ellis, White, Dea and Griffiths
Poor: Astbury, O'Hanlon and Helbig
And you may not think I care for you
When you know down inside that I really do

There's a couple that will spark some reactions on here I'm sure!   ;D

In all seriousness, I don't see Conca and Ellis staying on the Below Average list by season's end, nor do I see Morris and Vickery staying on the Average list.  Knights is another one that will move up if he stays injury free.  Starting to look a lot more solid with talent and depth than in previous years.

What was the criteria for average etc? Ellis IMO was as good as the majority of the back flankers in the comp making him average and Grimes, King, and Vickery were hardly on the park.

Elite - Top 10% of position type
Above Average - Top 11% - 35% of position type
Average - Top 36% - 65% of position type
Below Average - Top 66% - 90% of position type
Poor - Bottom 10%
And you may not think I care for you

His rating is actually understated in the Prospectus. Since moving to the forward line in Round 8, he has averaged 80 DT points per game, level with Jack Riewoldt.

For a small forward that is impressive.  :thumbsup

For those of us who are fantasy inclined, would greatly appreciate if you would check out the article I wrote about Port, Richmond, and St Kilda.
