Your AFL club's run home

    Matt Windley
    From: Herald Sun
    July 23, 2013 6:31PM

6. RICHMOND

44pts 118.0%
R18: Sydney, SCG
R19: Hawthorn, MCG
R20: Brisbane Lions, MCG
R21: Carlton, MCG
R22: Greater Western Sydney, Skoda Stadium
R23: Essendon, MCG

Matt says: Finally it's certain - Richmond will make the finals for the first time since 2001. Now for the Tigers it's about positioning themselves as a team to be reckoned with - and a win against either of Sydney or Hawthorn in the next two weeks will do just that. Top four? Unlikely. But Damien Hardwick's men still play the Swans and Bombers, two teams also fighting for the double chance. Wins against both will drop those sides within the Tigers grasp.

MATT WINDLEY'S PREDICTED LADDER

1. Hawthorn 19-3
2. Geelong 19-3
3. Essendon 18-4
4. Sydney 17-1-4
5. Fremantle 17-1-4
6. Richmond 14-8
7. Collingwood 13-9
8. Port Adelaide 13-9
--------
9. Carlton 10-12
10. Adelaide 10-12
11. West Coast 10-12
12. Brisbane Lions 10-12
13. Gold Coast 9-13
14. North Melbourne 7-15
15. Western Bulldogs 5-17
16. St Kilda 3-19
17. Melbourne 2-20
18. Greater Western Sydney 1-21

Which would mean...

WEEK 1 FINALS

Hawthorn v Sydney, MCG
Geelong v Essendon, MCG
Fremantle v Port Adelaide, Patersons Stadium
Richmond v Collingwood, MCG

WEEK 2 FINALS
Loser of Haw v Syd // winner of Frem v P.A
Loser of Geel v Ess // winner of Rich v Coll

Most interesting thing about that final ladder is he has GWS winning a game  :o :o

Carlton back down to 9th  ;D.

This weekend has seen the Lions, Suns and Crows faint chances bite the dust.

The Dogs have knocked off the Eagles so we can write of West Coast as well.

Up now to Port and Carlton for the 8th spot. If Essendon are stripped of their points then both will get get in.

The run home
By staff reporters
afl.com.au
9:05pm AEST Sunday, July 28, 2013

6. Richmond
44 points (11 wins, six losses) 113.3 per cent

The Tigers' win over Freo last weekend gave them some breathing space as they entered into a tough few weeks. Despite Sunday's loss to the Swans they look like playing finals for the first time since 2001 but they'll need to get points against one of Hawthorn, the Brisbane Lions or Carlton before facing the Giants in round 22. They round out their season against Essendon and it remains to be seen how much the Bombers will have to play for in the final round.

The run home:
Rd 19: Hawthorn at the MCG
Rd 20: Brisbane Lions at the MCG
Rd 21: Carlton at the MCG
Rd 22: Greater Western Sydney at Skoda Stadium
Rd 23: Essendon at the MCG

I hope we haven't gone a bit early with the finals predictions..... :o Neither of Brisbane or GWS looked like easy-beats on the weekend  :-[

If we can't beat Brisbane or GWS then we don't deserve the spot anyway

Matt Windley looks at each team's run home and the finals make-up

    By Matt Windley
    From: Herald Sun

6. RICHMOND
44pts 113.3%
R19: Hawthorn, MCG
R20: Brisbane Lions, MCG
R21: Carlton, MCG
R22: Greater Western Sydney, Skoda Stadium
R23: Essendon, MCG

Matt says: The loss to Sydney dashed any hope Richmond had of finishing in the top four, even the top five. It's looking more and more likely the Tigers and Collingwood will jostle for places six and seven on the ladder, the consequences of which are mouth-watering.

MATT WINDLEY'S PREDICTED LADDER

1. Hawthorn 19-3
2. Geelong 19-3
3. Sydney 17-1-4
4. Fremantle 17-1-4
5. Essendon 17-5
6. Richmond 14-8
7. Collingwood 14-8
8. Port Adelaide 13-9
---------------------------
9. Carlton 10-12
10. Brisbane Lions 10-12
11. Adelaide 9-13
12. West Coast 9-13
13. Gold Coast 9-13
14. North Melbourne 7-15
15. Western Bulldogs 7-15
16. St Kilda 3-19
17. Melbourne 2-20
18. Greater Western Sydney 1-21

Which would mean...

WEEK 1 FINALS

Hawthorn v Fremantle, MCG
Geelong v Sydney, MCG
Essendon v Port Adelaide, Etihad Stadium
Richmond v Collingwood, MCG

WEEK 2 FINALS
Loser of Haw v Frem // winner of Ess v P.A

3 games clear now of the Blues in ninth. 13 wins plus % will make finals a mathematical certainty  :thumbsup.
