A FOOTSCRAY woman received serious head injuries after collapsing at the gruesome sight of Richmond star Nathan Brown's broken leg.
Kasey Burnham, 25, blacked out and struck her head on a window sill and tiled floor while watching the Channel 9 broadcast at home on Friday night.
She received bleeding to the brain and is in a satisfactory condition at The Alfred hospital.
At least one other Melbourne woman required treatment after fainting over the horrific final-quarter incident.
Brown snapped the tibia and fibula in his right leg after an attempted spoil by Melbourne Demons' defender Matthew Whelan.
Whelan said later that he felt sick to the stomach when realising the extent of Brown's injury.
The Richmond forward has since had surgery to insert a 40cm metal rod into his leg and will be sidelined until next season.
Ms Burnham's father Warwick said his daughter collapsed without warning while watching the game with her boyfriend.
"She has a weak stomach . . . but it was a bit of a shock over something as simple as that," he said. "She certainly won't be watching it again."
He said ambulance workers who treated her said another woman in the Footscray area had also fainted after seeing the incident on television.
Ms Burnham is expected to make a full recovery.
