Never fear.Andy D has made sure both GCS and GWS win a flag or 2 before us.

Retirement comments were 'tongue in cheek'

RICHMOND captain Trent Cotchin says comments he made during the off-season that he would consider retirement if the Tigers won a premiership in the next three years were "tongue in cheek" and the reaction had been over the top.

In an interview for an updated version of The Draft, a book by respected draft expert Emma Quayle, Cotchin spoke about the demands of being an AFL footballer and the aspects of the game he loved.

The 23-year-old added: "But I'm looking forward to it being over as well. I reckon if we won a premiership in the next three years I'd pretty much be done."

Cotchin stressed on Thursday that he had made the comment, so it was not out of context, but said: "The way some people have reacted is the incorrect way".

"It was a tongue in cheek comment that has obviously taken a fair bit of attention away from our actual game this week," the star midfielder said.

"We spoke about the book over the off-season last year and it was more so a tongue in cheek line where we were talking about how hard footy is becoming.

"My main focus is to lead the club the best I can, alongside some of our younger leaders.

"The reality of it all is that we are here as a group determined to have success in the future. That's what we're striving towards."

Fair enough  :P

But I had a laugh when he says he hasn't been taken out of context, but then says "the way some people have reacted is the incorrect way". What is the right way for people to react?  ;D

And if that doesn't cover it we drag out "it was tongue in cheek comment". Bet you Emma Quayle who's been a huge supporter of Trent's would be rapted with knowing that

But I think based on the Cotchy's response today and tryingt oclear things up for the masses he has clearly shown that if wants it a career in politics beckons once he wins that flag of course  :clapping ;D

rubbish!
4 times best and fairest
3 times runner up.

'Twas the team that was poo and the hierachy during his career.
It was also he that stood up when we had a muppet for a coach and threatened to walk out because of it. He is Richmond through and through as he supported the club also.
If we had a decent team around him he would've been regarded a champ.
Unfortunately we didn't have a clue as a club for too many years.
The club that keeps giving.

I just think outside wingers generally speaking have greater longevity in the game. They just don't cop the wear and tear that inside mids or CHF's do.

Jack Baggott should have been in the team of the Century. How Matt Knights got in playing in the era he had played in was a question. Matty Richardson should also not have been included because at the time he was a long way short of finishing his career. That he was a much loved champion by the end doesnt count.
