Damien Barrett believes that Hawthorn will match Sydney's offer but engage Sydney in trade.

Sydney's Pick 14 and Shane Mumford to Hawthorn
Lance Franklin to Sydney.

Mark Robinson ‏@Robbo_heraldsun twitter:

"just told about the supposed nine-year deal to buddy by a club source.. the plot thickens

also been told the nine-year deal is worth $10million ... Some Hawks players are aware of the deal

opposition club officials now also saying it is a nine-year deal from Sydney to Franklin"

Don't know why they keep mentioning Mitch Morton, he would have been on less than Billy the Boot Studder. Its still stuffing ridiculous how the Swans can keep picking up marquee players like they are going out of style.

Morton would have earned over $100k this year Tiga even if he was on the minimum wage.  His $100k, Mumford ~$300k, White ~$150k, Mattner ~$250k and Bolton ~$300k (vets list) frees up a fair chunk of 'Buddy money'.  It will all come down to who they fill the list gaps with and I can't see how they can do it with much else than new kids.

Not bad for a club that can't even get in the black.

So I wonder who GWS will be on the hunt for now? They've obviously got cash to burn. Probably pickup half of Essendon now. We'll have no chance getting Adams now unless we can tempt
GWS with Foley or Grimes.

Oooh I do hope they steal Hurley or someone else the bummers are in love with.  Not that I'm vindictive but that would be just great!

You gotta wonder what the other Sydney players think of this?  It would have to kind of rip apart any team spirit there.  Is Hanneberry on 700K? Doubt it but he's their best mid fielder now and ought to get a fair share if Buddy is worth 1.1.

I wonder if someone offered Hanneberry 500K would he be getting a pay rise?  I'd offer it for him.

What about the Mike Pykes of this world?  Is he being ripped off?  We could do with a second ruck, maybe he's only on 120 we might be able to scratch up 200.

Something seems fishy in the harbour city tonight.

reckon Mumford was on about $500k, he signed a big deal when he first went up there

AFL just announced they are going to investigate this little proposed deal

His a free agent isn't he so the hawks can still match their offer. The only problem is the AFL giving them a bigger cap space which allows them to go after  marquee players.

Seems that Sydney is a long way ahead in the free-agent stakes.  Somehow told them about the rules of the game and they are now showing everyone else how to play it.  Reckon it might be a few years before the Tigers catch up to this kind of fancy footwork.

Dunno how you could offer a 26 year old a nine year contract ..... It might really be a five year deal that they take nine years to pay like OX says.

Thinking forward six years, what happens if you delist a contracted player?  Can you replace the player on your list even though you have to keep their payments in your salary cap?
