I reckon if they give McBean a game before finals it will be GWS in round 22.

I like the Orren and Ivan experiment worked well yeaterday but Tuck's big body and his ability to win the contested ball was perfect for the conditions given yesterday. Tuck's big body will be critical come finals time.

You can drop McGuane after one game and bring in Vickery. Competitions for spots is intense and while McGuane competes he lacks polish as we all know.

Kingy offers another conundrum but our smalls all did their jobs yesterday and we need to keep blokes like Rich, Redden, Rockliff and Hanley in check.

MCG also looked very wet and slippery and was chopped up by todays game also. If there is going to be rain this week and the surface of the ground deteriotes we may have to think about Kingy.

For now

Out McGuane
In Vickery

i dont think king is best 22

if you look at our small/mid forwards: S Edwards, Newman, Foley, Conca etc. King cant get a spot.

Personally think McGuane added quite a bit to our forward line on Saturday. Will be unlucky to miss against Brisbane IMO.

Agree O.  But when you look at Torch's Ins/Outs:

(Out) IN
(McGuane) McBean
(Stephenson) Vickery
(Astbury) Grimes

then each one is either an improvement or has serious development potential and that's what successful finals team have - depth.

King, Petterd, Lonergan, Dea, Nahas, are others who can all step straight in and play/fill a role without us losing heaps and that's before we see how much development there might be in McDonough, Elton, Darrou, McIntosh, Williams, O'Hanlon, Helbig, even Griffiths if he survives the cut this year just to name a few.  We haven't had a list with a structure this sound since the 70's but our challenge now will be to not let it rest, we need to keep turning over the bottom feeders and nurturing those with some genuine talent.  And most importantly, don't let our recent success with retreads or imports go to our heads - 1 or 2 more of quality to fill genuine needs (ruck, kpf, kpd) is ample.

all of those outs would be stiff to miss.

Mcbean i feel will have to keep performing at the lower level for a little while yet, which i don't see as such a bad thing. I reckon he will get a chance sooner than later though.

If vickery replaces orren then i hope they keep the same structure and use him pretty much as they did with stephenson.

Astbury would be realy stiff to miss out. He earned his recall and did OK. Grimes has missed a lot of football and IMO should now have to earn his recall. As much of a wrap I have for Grimes, I dont think he should be regarded as a monty to walk straight in, particularly at the expense of another youngster who has worked hard for their spot and doesn't deserve to be dropped

Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

RICHMOND

INJURIES
Matt Dea (shoulder) test
Jake King (hamstring) test
Ty Vickery (concussion) test
Ricky Petterd (groin) 1 week
Matt Arnot (back) season
Chris Knights (knee) season
Cadeyn Williams (shoulder) season

ON THE BLOCK: Block shmock. No fresh injuries and can’t find any Tigers who deserve to be dropped on form after their best win of the season. Steve Morris had only three disposals (no kicks) but held Cyril Rioli to zero impact, Dave Astbury (10 disposals) took Jack Gunston out of the game and Shane Tuck proved an inspired choice as sub, coming on when the storm hit to grab 12 barn-storming disposals and kick a vital last-quarter goal.

ON THE CUSP: The problem for Damien Hardwick and his match committee is there are players ready to come back and others bashing down the door with strong VFL form. Jake King and Ty Vickery are both strong chances to pass fitness tests, which puts Luke McGuane (two goals against the Hawks) under the pump. Coburg scored a come-from-behind win against North Ballarat with Liam McBean kicking six goals and Aaron Edwards three. Sam Lonergan had 30 disposals, including 14 in the final term, while Robin Nahas and Jake Batchelor were also in the best.

AL PATON’S FORECAST: Stop dreaming, Tiger fans, and start planning your September diary (it might be a good idea to vote early!). Richmond can make its third finals appearance in 31 years official with a win against Brisbane at the MCG on Saturday. And the Tigers’ other games – against Carlton, GWS and Essendon – are also winnable. Get on board for what could be a very exciting ride.

From the way Dimma was speaking pre game I think he really wants to give the 2 fulltime ruckmen plus Vickery a trial before finals.

Be interesting to see what happens at the selection table over the next 4

There will be players determined to break into the side for finals and those determined to keep their spot, might see the making of a few blokes on the fringes
