Hartly's radar
« on: August 04, 2013, 03:52:14 PM »
Over the past few years we have targeted a player from another club to fill a need.. Chaplin, Maric, Houli and Grigg. Who is on Hartly's list this year?
For mine we need a crumbing forward, a CHF and a developing ruckman..
Not sure if he is contracted or not but what do people think of Tom Campbell from Western Bulldogs? From what I have seen, he moves really well and can take a pluck.
Any others you can think of?

Gumbleton from Essendon? They seem to have a plethora of talls and he cannot seem to get a game.. The lure of playing regular  senior footy might make him consider leaving.

Warrnock from Carlton?? An upgrade from Big O. Good tap ruckman
Tom Bell from Carlton? Big bodied mid that played well last year when he had an opportunity.

Tom Nichols, gorringe or lycett for ruckman. Nichols is 3rd in line at GC, stunning how well he's played this season.

Don't rate gumbleton.

Any small fwds out of contract or do we try and fill this list need via the draft?

Eddie Betts? Thought he was older but he is only 26.  Would prefer Garlett but don't think they would let him go.

betts i think is a restricted free agent too.

the specialist small forward i reckon is a dying role, and a luxury you probably cant afford unless you have a special talent.

Id take betts, but generally you should be looking for blokes that can rotate through the midfield as well. it gives you more flexability and the more blokes who play in the middle the greater the workload is spread.

Normally at this time of year drafting is the only interesting thing for us.

Feels strange this year with Sept beckoning
