Richmond have not lost to the Brisbane Lions since Hardwick took over as coach.

Infact tigers have only lost once to the lions in the past ten encounters.

Brisbane are no easy beats, still need to bring our A game or suffer the consequences.  They arent the same team away from the Gabba but will still be a good test to see if we can follow up Saturdays effort.

Agree. Can't afford to lapse after a great effort against the Hawks. Need to be clinical and bring the same intensity we brought to the Hawks game.

SUMMARY

The Tigers (12-6) are officially finals-bound for the first time since 2001 after their brilliant 41-point win over Hawthorn in round 19. With seven wins from their past nine games, the Tigers won't just be making up the numbers either. Locked with Collingwood on 48 points and 115.5 per cent, Saturday's clash against the Brisbane Lions (8-10) offers the Tigers a chance to boost their percentage and jump into sixth spot. The Lions, however, won't just roll over with Michael Voss's men in reasonable form, winning four of their past five games.

WHERE AND WHEN: MCG, Saturday August 10, 1.45pm

LAST FIVE TIMES
R19, 2012, Richmond 20.12 (132) d Brisbane Lions 12.12 (84) at the Gabba
R13, 2011, Richmond 18.17 (125) d Brisbane Lions 14.10 (94) at the Gabba
R6, 2011, Richmond 18.16 (124) d Brisbane Lions 14.14 (98) at the MCG
R13, 2010, Richmond 15.15 (105) d Brisbane Lions 12.14 (86) at the Gabba
R7, 2009, Brisbane Lions 15.7 (97) d Richmond 10.11 (71) at the MCG

THE SIX POINTS

1. The Tigers have dominated the Lions recently, winning the past four contests. They hold a 10-3 advantage in clashes between the sides at the MCG.

2. The Lions have a poor recent record at the MCG, winning just two of 10 matches at the venue since 2009.

3. Richmond remains the worst tackling side in 2013, ranked last for overall tackles. The Lions are ranked 10th.

4. Richmond midfielder Brett Deledio earned three Brownlow votes when these sides last met, finishing with 33 possessions and one goal.

5. Star Tigers midfielder Trent Cotchin is building form, winning 34 possessions (18 contested) and nine clearances last week against the Hawks.

6. Lions midfielder Daniel Rich is climbing in the Official AFL Player Ratings after slumping to No.76 overall in round 12. Rich has regained the No.1 ranking at his club and is ranked No.22 overall.

Pie 81 tackles to bombers 50. Just for u X  ;D

But yeah I have no beef at all with lower tackling stats now, when we generally press and pressure like we do its as good as tackling

When Ringo Starr was asked at a press conference if he was a mod or a rocker, he replied; "I'm a mocker". Maybe WP should follow suit. :lol

 :thumbsup

I'd take a 41 point win against the Hawks and lose the tackle count over winning the tackle count and losing.

We're also the 3rd best defensive team in the league. We must be doing something right.

Though understand the argument, IMV it is in games like the Swans one where the tackling numbers are an issue.

In that game the lack of tackling reflected how easily the Swans ran off us, away from us with very little defensive pressure from us especially in the middle. In a way the question becomes how different the result if we had of applied that defensive pressure?

hardwick reckons we are one the best teams at getting first posesion from a stoppage, which means we are more often the ones being tackled.

tackling is just one aspect of pressure applied to the opposition, and like most stats is generally meaningless on its own
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."
