whats the point of having the game at a time when more people can attend, if you can only get 2100 in?

Fair point but originally when the game was announced it was going to be at 4.40pm

Why couldn't they have left it at that? With the work going on the ground capacity was always going to be an issue no matter what the time they played it

Beside don't you think it would be great having footys flying into Punt Road during peak hour?  ;D
No problem at peak hour on Punt road. Its normally stopped. :rollin

NB: there are only 2,100 tickets available

FARCE

Actually it's a non-farce. We're reducing capacity for the safety of those that attend.

No actually it is a farce in fact its worse.

Somebody has programed a game (albeit a practice match) between to of the biggest clubs in the league, that if these two sides played at the G would pull anything fro 70,000 to 85.000 patrons and somebody in their internal wisdom has scheduled this practice match (that could EASILY attract 10,000 +) at a venue that on current circumstance has a capacity of 2100 people.

But your right aren't you, it's not a farce its good management. Wake up.

Club 80 were told that they get first dibs but they are not allowed to tell anyone so they are stuck in a ticketless bubble

Can confirm this on behalf of a colleague. Most tickets have been snapped up.

Looks like the regular fans get rolled

Told you.

Btw the general accepted capacity figure is between 10000 and 15000. Weve had finals training crowds of more than 2100.

So 2100 is waaaaaaay under capacity. The regular fans just got rolled on this one.

Imagine vfl games. Dont think youll be able to get in then either!

Actually, I understand capacity has been purposely limited due to insufficient toilet numbers

If the required number of toilets were installed, a greater number of persons (Including members) could be accomodated as there is space around the ground to do so.

Please advise.

It was at the ME Bank Centre or Craigieburn, which would you prefer?

The reduced capacity is due to the stand not being ready so people can't be around it, we will also have toilets in there so you're not completely off track. The stand being out of action is the key.

Clearly a slow news day at the Hun  :sleep.

Richmond’s practice match against Essendon to be watched by just 2100 fans

    Michael Warner
    Herald Sun
    February 19, 2014

FOOTBALL’S return to Punt Road Oval will only be witnessed by 2100 as Richmond rush to prepare the ground for a full season of VFL games.

The Tigers will play Essendon in a practice game next Friday, the first game at the venue in 50 years, but capacity has been reduced as works continue on the main grandstand.

Tickets for the game go on sale at Ticketmaster from 9am with all proceeds directed to the Alannah and Madeline Foundation.

Works to bring the ground up to standard for the VFL season, including a $1 million refurbishment of the Jack Dyer Stand, are ongoing.

The Tigers’ stand-alone VFL side will play nine matches at Punt Rd Oval this season, seven of them as curtain raisers to Richmond games at the MCG.

The last VFL game at the ground was against Hawthorn in 1964.

“It is fantastic that we’ve been able to get these interface works underway and we expect they will be fully completed in time for our first home VFL game,” Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said yesterday.

“It will however impact capacity for our practice game against Essendon and it is really important supporters of both clubs are aware of that fact.”

The Richmond-Essendon match kicks off at 1pm on Friday, March 7.

They should have waited until next year for the grand revival match, the first afl game played since 1964, to have it with a capacity crowd of 20,000 or what ever it will hold when it's all finished.

Stoopid bloody time to have it anyway.

This is one big balls up as far as I'm concerned, especially when it comes to supporters wanting to see football at their beloved home ground.

Surely no idiot would intentionally schedule a game like this, with this much history behind it, without having the supporters in mind.

I believe the capacity will be less than 10k, they said at the AGM back in Dec they were expecting crowds of 5-8k most games so the ground would have the work done based on that

Though that was Dec it is now February could have changed.  ;D
