Do or die for Foley this season, pretty confident he'll be back to his explosive self again in 14.

I haven't felt newman has been best 22 for a while now. Bit of a passenger and for an experienced player is never near the coalface when its at its hottest.

Knights wont be ready till midseason? Very much doubt he'll be in the mix in the first part of the season. Would be a bonus if he plays anywhere near his capabilities, but usually players take a season to settle after a serious injury.

McIntosh is raw, good prospect and will get his chance but he's not ready to cement a spot yet. Expect him to play 5 games at most.

McBean should be aiming to play 5-10 as well.

Houli is no panic merchant, one of the best users of the ball in our side, Sheesh if he's a panic merchant, then we're really stuffed bc there are only a handful I trust more with ball in hand at this stage
can only call it as i see it. houli i would describe as a sheep dog.
pros are- run and spread is good. hes a very good kicking option in space. is a good accumul;ator of possesions  mainly uncontested.
cons - is poor defensively, very one sided. he certainly panics regularly  when time and space is taken away, does not win anywhere near enough  ball.

we all see things differently. me i have little time for houli as a backman.
imo the best role for him is taking griggs spot on a wing. griggy would have to be the biggest down hill skier in the comp. in fact another sheep dog.

are Longer and Adams still in the best 22?  :huh
id take adams over lennon every day of the week. we know hes  a mid who can win his own ball. we know we would have a genuine mid.
id take longer over hampson every day of the week. longer at the very least has the opportunity and credentials to become a first class ruckman. purlely as a ruckman hes out performed hampson quite easily after just 2 yrs.  hampson has been there for 7 yrs and failed abymally.no comparison.

how do you tell if a player is genuine?
do they have a stamp of authenticity on them?
they certainly are produced in limited editions though, as we don't seem to get them.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Yahweh? or the great Clawski?

x 2.  Is easily in my best 22 and is an important cog in our team structure for delivery out of the backline.

how does a sheep dog operate. always running around the outside of the herd.

as i constantly say we all see things differently.  plenty agree with what i see. me if was opposition coach id have my players take him deep make him defend  and pressure him. when it does happen he panics and is found wanting most of the time.
my knock on houli as a defender is hes incredibly poor in some areas. the flip side is  hes good in space with delivery on one side and his run is decent.

yep when we are allowed to play the bruise free footy we like so much and things go well hes great. but when we have to adapt hes incapable of adapting.

BEST 22:

B: Steven Morris, 25, 43 games, Alex Rance, 24, 89 games, Dylan Grimes, 22, 26 games

HB: Chris Newman, 31, 233 games, Troy Chaplin, 27, 162 games, Bachar Houli, 25, 91 games

C: Brett Delideo, 26, 195 games, Dustin Martin, 22, 86 games, Brandon Ellis, 20, 42 games

HF: Shane Edwards, 25, 129 games, Tyrone Vickery, 23, 75 games, Reece Conca, 21, 52 games

F: Ben Lennon, 18, 0 games, Jack Riewoldt, 25, 134 games, Jake King, 29, 105 games

R: Ivan Maric. 27, 118 games, Trent Cotchin, 23, 108 games, Nick Vlastuin, 19, 18 games

INT: Daniel Jackson, 27, 146 games, Nathan Foley, 28, 136 games, Shaun Hampson, 25, 63 games, Shaun Grigg, 25, 109 games

Get Vickery to FF and Jack at CHF
Ty could kick 80+ goals from there and Jack could still kick 70 odd from CHF.
I think Jack reads the play better than Ty and would create far better opportunities from CHF.

i know i've already mentiioned this but I for one am very excited to see what Jack can do at CHF.
Teams love crowding Jack close to goal. Get him on his bike and free him up. He is very damaging in space.

Two years ago I would've agreed with you, but since he has become more team orientated his reading of the play and creative space making, makes him a great potential to be as good as Wayne Carey. He's the kind of player that will run against the flow of play, basically running forward at the precise moment as the ball is heading down back then be able to receive the ball after a turn over, and then kick goals. Carey was able to turn a game his way when opportunities arose because he could see it before the opportunity happened. Jack is the same, he just hasn't been given the opportunity to be in that position.

So when I say Jack at CHF, it's not just a guess and something that sounds good, this is something that could help us win games. I don't know why others can't see the potential.

Jack is indeed a ruddy smart mother flipper and can read it like a book.
