I'd like to know when we last had 6 players on our list over 200cms - we might see 4 of them in the side at once this year with Hampson, Vickery,McBean/Griffs and Maric all looking like options.

Wonder if Foley or Kingy have ever been shortest on our list before?

We look tall for the first time in a few years  :thumbsup

Plus they are no lumbering giants either. Hampson, Vickery, Griffiths and McBean are all relatively quick and agile.

Particularly Vick's, especially at ground level.....who would think eh, big and versatile...well I never... :whistle

Ok lets just this straight WAT

Not only do you believe that increasing body mass will not affect a persons ability to stop and change directions quickly, you think that it is ludicrous to even think it will, and anyone that does believe that is an idiot?

but can they mark or even dominate in the air by competeing.
im still asking,  if theres one proven ruckman there in maric, how many 200cm plus key forwards have been succesful. and what attributes makes for a succesful key forward. if i wanted quick and agile and decent at ground level id recruit a small. these attributes are only really worth something if they can combine them with the attributes needed to perform their primary role first.

Ok, let's al.

Here is your original post I commented on:

"Edwards put on weight before last season and went backwards.

Physical strength has never been, nor ever will be, a strength of his.

Agility is his best attribute, and you cant have bulk and agility."

Edwards put on weight and went backwards ? When the hell was he ever forwards. He could put on 10kg or lose 10kg and it wouldn't affect his agility, it doesn't affect all players, end of story and over the years do you honestly think it's affected Edwards. I have heard very excuse for Edwards over the years and this one pretty well topped them all. Richo was agile, Carey was agile! Cameron is agile, there are many players in the AFL that are big or who have bulked up that have kept their agility, likewise many other sports people.....this had nothing to do with Edwards poor form, now that's only my opinion.

I will take injury as a reason that's affects agility, Nathan Brown for example...

Anyway mate, that's just my thoughts.

all those big blokes are agile for a big man, it's all relative.
their agility will not match a that of an agile small.

the more you bulk up, the more likely it is to affect your agility.

it a pretty straight forward concept.

as for the comment about edwards going forward, even you acknowledged he played some good footy in 2012, and what he produced last year was not to that standard, was it not? so he went backwards.

He did go backwards I am not sure we can put it down to agility though, all his career he just seems to be one or two games off really nailing it, he just never has.

reckon shane eswards played at his optimum in 2012. trouble is his optimum is average. any drop away at all and he becomes mediocre. ffs we have had 7 yrs to be able to come to this assesment.
