The concern for North is Brett Harvey in his mid-30s is still their best player. Contain him and Wells and North are a one-paced, one-dimensional side.

If that's really the case, then I hope we absolutely tag that pair into oblivion when we play them. Having a strategy to counter the inevitable mega-flood of our forward line that they'll perpetrate would be a help too. Seriously, I want to DESTROY the shi@#boners this year!

Got them all early before completely fading out. Same crap, different jumper.

Spot on ! I wonder what percentage of McGuane's career goals have been kicked in the first quarter ?  I reckon about 90%.
If I was the coach I'd sub him off at qtr time every week.

So do I RR  :thumbsup  :pray.

The only problem is I think we play them at Etihad again which suits their uber mega-flood counterattack gameplan. Hopefully Dimma and co. have learnt from last year's shocker where we continually got sucked in by it.

Schulz rolled his ankle when fat boy Hurley sat on it.

Last night makes you again ask where the Dons are going to get their goals from most weeks to kick a winning score. After that initial burst at the start of the game, they could only manage 6 goals in the remaining 3.5 qtrs.

I know it's only practice matches but it's always fun to see Collingwood, Carlton and Essendon all lose when we've had a good win  :thumbsup.

Essendon are horrible and in for a loooong year. I can't believe Brereton and Roo last night had them as being right in the middle of their premiership window ?
People on this site , others in the media all have them finishing top 8 , maybe top 4 ??
I seriously don't get it ? Is it me who's deluded ? They are crap !
Their first four games are against North , Hawthorn , Carlton and Freo away. They will be zip and 4.

They're better than Carlton, which usually means Carlton will win that so 0-4 looking likely. And with their fadeouts they'll be cooked.

Surely you've been around long enough to know that you never underestimate Essendon. As good as we are at contriving defeat , they are at contriving victories. Whereas we're the side that misses finals with 14 wins, they're the side that falls in arse-backwards with 10 wins. Media, umpires & AFL all love them. Like most who are overpraised, spoiled and entitled, they refuse to accept criticism & strut around with an air of condfidence even when they're ordinary.

Put it simply- the fact they wear a sash of a different colour is appropriate because they're pretty much the anti-Richmond. Like how Barbara Eden & Elizabeth Montgomery used to put on brunette wigs to play their evil cousins in I Dream of Jeanie & Bewitched.

Dogs had more scoring shots last night but still lost by 28 pts to Freo. As they say bad kicking is bad footy. After the Dogs got to 22 pts in front early in the 3rd, Freo kicked 10.3 to 1.6.
